Waking up to the sound of waves crashing to the shore jolted him quickly awake. Sana lie beside Eddie wrapped in a blanket, and he was too. She looked so pretty when she wasn't shrieking about getting a job or making any noise for that matter.
I shifted the damp hair out of my face and peered at the sun rise. The pink colours of the sky gave slight warmth to my face slowly making the numbing pain of cold disappear. Over to my right I noticed a cop car parked near a food truck and knew unless we moved now we were screwed.
"Sana, get up. Sana!" I whisper screamed.
"Ice cream sounds great..." She mumbled flopping back over like a log.
"What in the- get up!" I said picking her shoe off the grass throwing it at her.
"It's not even sun rise yet what's with you Mom..." She said and I paused.
Her mom? She liked her mom enough to talk about her in her sleep? We never shared details to why we were emancipated, but I knew we'd have to soon.
"For the love of all things holy." I pinched her nose and put my hand over her mouth until she flung up gasping for air like a fish out of water.
"Eddie what the hell?!" She remarked looking like a bush with her hair everywhere as her brown eyes shone in the sun alarmed.
"Cops. If they find us not on our property before the beach opens we're going to jail until our parents come to pick us up, and both of us know that's not going to happen." I retorted packing up her things quietly and quickly.
"Where do we go now?" She asked.
"We're going to go to a secret place, follow me." I said zipping her bag shut swinging it over my shoulder.
She scoffed with laughter and I noticed her bright humour that glowed when she laughed. Her dimples showed and her eyes shone with glee.
"W-what?" I stumbled.
"By the way you look amazing with that hot pink sports bag on your shoulder. Really matches the blush on your cheeks." She commented giggling.
I rolled my eyes but smiled on the inside and threw the bag at her.
"I guess you get to carry it then." I said as she caught it and almost tumbled to the ground. "Come on now!"
We jogged from the beach to the side walk when all of the sudden Sana started wheeling past me at a running pace. It looked like she was floating on air but then I remembered throwing her shoe at her, seeing the wheels in the bottom.
"See you later boy." She said dashing down a small hill.
"You don't even know where you're goi- she'll figure that out soon enough." I said sighing just before I laughed out loud for the first time in awhile. That girl had a way about her, I guess eventually I'd figure out what power she had in her to be so goofy.

Awhile later Eddie and I ended up at a weird looking apartment complex. The roofs were tilted and gave off a weird anime vibe of bright green panels on the outside but a odd Chinese culture inside with signs written in Mandarin everywhere. The front desk lady looked to both of us and gave a peace sign as she looked at Eddie. He returned one back and she let us walk through.
"What was that?" I asked thinking we were about to join a cult or something.
"She used to be emancipated at a young age. Her name is Yuza Kim and we were friends for about a year. She turned eighteen recently and got a job here literally because she's some type of Asian, well at least that's what she told me. When I'm eighteen she told me I could get a job here to since well I'm half just like you." Eddie told me and he guided me through an odd hallway full of manga books placed on tables like a display.
