Eddie, the most detoxified of the three boys grabbed Reggy and Aydin by the arms and dragged them out of the building practically throwing them into the hallway towards the elevator. Slamming the door quickly I dashed to the closest room being Yuza's and grabbed her perfume spraying it madly all over every room in the apartment.
"What do I do?" She asked me nervously watching me dart across the floor in a hurry.
"Hide everything. Drugs, alcohol, all of it." I said and she nodded instantly scurrying off to stash Aydin's bag of weed into a pillow that had a hole the perfect size for it.
I ran into my bedroom and sprayed myself with the perfume then continued to douse the sheets in it as well. I picked up a frame along with several other items from the destruction of Eddie and Aydin's fight and placed them in order then threw my sheets into a perfectly made bed. Just as I felt like maybe we'd be okay I knew we'd need an alibi if the police asked if we were related. I just needed Yuza to understand this was a lie, but we needed to lie again even if it was already taking a toll on my conscious.
"Yuza, if the police ask. You and I are sisters." I said slowly making sure it sunk in.
"Sis-ter?" She responded confused.
"Family." I said seeing a slight glow dawn in her face.
"Ohh sister." She said clumsily but I smiled anyway glad we could figure it out.
With a knock on the door I set myself into a full panic on the inside, but a calm one on the outside. I motioned for Yuza to sit on the couch and turned on the TV to 'Cats Beyond' it was basically just a show for cute cats but it pleased her anyhow enough to keep her distracted.
I threw on a bathrobe that lay on a dining chair and fluffed my hair to make it seem as if I just woke up. Even if it was extra, I was willing to try anything to disguise our lies.
"Hello?" I asked yawning before looking at the officers with my eyes barely open.
"Hello miss, are your parents home?" They asked me.
"No, they're at work." I replied rubbing my eyes.
"Ah I see. Would you mind if we took a mandatory inspection of your home? It will take no more than two minutes. As you know, this is a high crime area and we need to make sure every house is secure after an incident here last week." The nice officer replied taking off his sunglasses.
"Oh really?" I asked in pretend shock. "Well I'm glad you're on top of this issue. Just don't go near my sister. She's very sick." I implied. Yuza and I in hindsight looked nothing alike, but to most people as long as we were the same race they wouldn't be able to tell us apart.
"Of course." He implied turning his head to nod to a man behind him.
As I stepped aside they paced the apartment looking over a lot more carefully than I thought. They looked behind paintings on the walls, under furniture, in between the pages of books. My heart rate pulsed faster than I could react. I calmly took a seat in the chair beside Yuza and placed the pillow with Aydin's weed in my robe under my thighs. It took all my strength not to have a panic attack.
The officers preceded through the apartment opening cupboards, the bathroom, even through the fridge to find nothing. As they came into my eye sight they nodded at each other and proceeded to the door.
"You ladies have a nice day." He said shutting the door behind him.
As the door clicked shut I let out a deep breath and wanted to celebrate after not getting caught with drugs. For sure one sentence in my life I never thought I'd have to think about.
