Ship: Platonic Anxceit
Notes: Tired person writing a very lovely request that needs proper attention.Virgil noticed something wrong in Deceit’s behavior for quite a while now. Maybe it was the way he looked longingly at the other sides when they give each other affection or how he would glare at them ‘hatefully’ when they offered a hug. No, it was something much deeper than that. He knew that Deceit also could shape-shift like they could. They are part of the same mind after all.
Some days, he would randomly see two Patton’s or two Roman’s roaming the halls. Probably it was sleep deprivation doing this to him but after a while, it became too common to miss as mere hallucinations. So, he did the only other thing he could: he pulled a Logan and started to do a bit of research on it.
After a few days of research (I got lazy, fuck all of you. I'm tired), he had come to a weird conclusion that Deceit had been acting as Roman or Patton on certain days, depending on the level of affection that he wanted. It had become obvious if he was playing Patton or Roman.
If he was a Patton, his cardigan wouldn't be the one that Logan had given Patton as a gift. It was a dead giveaway. If he was a Roman, it was immediately obvious since he didn't sing Disney a lot.
Besides, Deceit was gone all the time the dopplegangers showed up. Man, Virgil felt smart like this… He sighed as he got up from his place from his bed, stretching effortlessly and walked down the hall.
To no surprise, he saw ‘Patton’ there, standing and smiling brightly. Maybe Deceit didn't know that Logan, Patton, and Roman were doing something with Thomas together in the real world. But it didn't matter as he played off a smile.
“Hey, Dad,” he said, his tone groggily. ‘Patton’ giggled and said, “Heya, kiddo! I planned an entire day for us to do. I hope you don't really mind that…”
“No, it's okay. I'm looking forward to it,” Virgil stated, smiling softly as the other bounced up and down happily.
“That's great!”
Virgil chuckled as he was dragged off to Imagination. The entire day has been like this, laughing and giggling. He had almost forgotten that he was actually hanging around Deceit.
He didn't care at all.
Virgil knew how it was like to be left out and alone. It was practically his natural habitat. He hated those days.
‘Maybe I can be there for him…’
Days passed since he and ‘Patton’ hung out in Imagination. He caught glimpses of Deceit every now and then but he knew it wasn't so easy to approach him. He had cornered him once but the snake-like trait slithered away immediately, leaving Virgil stunned.
‘Alright, when he goes back to ‘Patton’ and ‘Roman’...’
Virgil sighed as he waited again for a few minutes. He really wanted to help Deceit, he really did.
So he kept quiet about it, his plan to talk to Deceit was absolutely getting nowhere and it was kind of embarrassing as well…
But he knew that paying attention to the ‘Patton’ and ‘Roman’ was enough to make Deceit feel like a part.
