It was finally June 12. The day the World Cup would start. There would would only be one game today. Brazil vs. Croatia. I was genuinely excited, but I still couldn't get over James. I wondered what he was doing here in Brazil. Was he a fan? A player? On vacation? Will I ever see him again?

I was pushed out of my thoughts by the sound of my door opening. "Wake up darling. Breakfast is almost ready. And we all have to be ready in 2 hours." My mom smiled as she looked at me. I had never noticed how beautiful she was. Even though she was 35, she looked younger. Her hair still had a shine to it. She was just beautiful. "Okay mom. I''l be down in a minute" I smiled back. She closed the door and I got out of bed.

As I headed downstairs, I heard way more voices. More than on a normal day. When I reached the middle of the staircase, I saw the whole Brazilian team in my living room. I wasn't shocked because they were here. They usually always gathered here before a big game, like today. I felt a hand on my back, I turned around and saw my dad. "What's wrong sweetie?" He asked genuinely worried. "Mom didn't tell me the team was here." I responded. "We didn't know they were coming. They just arrived right now. Are you sure you're okay?" "Yeah I'm fine I'm just going to the restroom before I go downstairs" I smiled. I ran up the staircase and went to the restroom. No one really knew this, but I had always had a thing with Oscar. I thought he was handsome. I thought I got over my so-called crush, but I guess not. I haven't seen him since last year, and my feelings were coming back.

"Alexa! Where are you?" My uncle yelled across the second floor of the house. There's no way I'm getting out of this one, I thought to myself. I opened the restroom door and saw my uncle standing there as if knowing something was wrong. "What's up with you? "Nothing just worried about the game today" I lied "Is it cause your boyfriend Oscar is downstairs?" I cannot believe what he just said. I looked at him with wide eyes. "What?" "Alexa I know you like Oscar. I see the way you look at him. I'm not dumb" He smiled at me. I guess he knew what I was going to ask next because he said "No no one knows. Now come on go downstairs and eat. I need you at the game today" I smiled at my uncle. We both went downstairs. The whole team stood up and came to hug me. I went into the kitchen and saw the most plates with pancakes with them. I went over to my little brother Luca and hugged him. "I can't believe you're already 6." I looked at him. He just smiled.

My mom served everybody and then sat down to eat. Since the team was here, my mom let us eat in the living room. "I swear your food is the best" said David Luiz. My mom just smiled. "I make it with a lot of love" She smiled. "Are you guys nervous?" Luca asked. "They all responded with a nod. I couldn't help but smile. I looked up and saw Oscar smiling at me. I blushed and looked down. For some reason, I felt guilty about Oscar every time I remembered James. It wasn't wrong was it? I mean me and James weren't dating, right? My uncle looked at me as if waiting for a response. "What?" "That if you're going to the game today Lex? "Oh, yeah. Of course" I smiled."Okay, my kids go get ready" My dad said from the kitchen. I got up. When I was halfway up the stairs, I slipped and I felt my head hit the stair. After that, everything went black.
