The day had gone by way to quick. The breakfast date with Hunter was fine. Nothing special but, it was ok. Things with Hunter haven't been very good lately. We barely talk anymore and when we do things are kinda awkward. But, he is my boyfriend and I love him. I think.
After school I sit in my car thinking over the events of the night before. Should I stay or should I go? I think to myself as I begin to drive home. Once I reach the red light on elm and pioneer I check my phone only to see Jason texting me.
Hey are you coming?
I really need you to come.
Please.
I don't respond. Instead I set my phone down and stare out at the cars in front of me. Once the light turns green I hit the gas and take the next right and continue straight until I reach the mine.
I couldn't let Jason down. As much of an ass as he is I just can't. And besides I want to understand what alpha meant by 'Power Rangers'
I park my car and get out only to be approached by Jason, a big goofy smile plastered across his face.
"You showed up." He says, shoving his hands in his pocket.
"Of course I did." I reply. I rock back and forth on my heels, the awkwardness evident.
"I'm sorry about yesterday. I was being an ass-" Jason started to say before I cut him off.
"It's alright. What you were saying about Hunter was true so," I whisper so quiet you could barely hear me.
"Is everything alright with you and Hunter?" He asks me. I take a second to think. Should I tell him the truth or tell him what I want to think is going on.
"If I'm going to be honest, no. The sparks just not there anymore I guess. We goof around and stuff because the fun is in the chance of getting caught. Once we did it's not fun anymore." I answer truthfully, tears threatening to spill out of my eyes.
"I'm sorry, Ken." He says looking directly in my eyes. He gently grabs my hands and holds them in his. I look down at my shoes trying to hide the fact that I'm blushing. My plan fails me when he grabs my chin and lifts my face up to look at him.
"Really it's okay Scotty." I say back to him. He stays silent just looking into my eyes. I take a minute to admire his features. From his icy blue eyes to his pink, plump lips. Everything about him seemed to be perfect in that moment.
"Hey, you guys about to suck face or something?" Zach screams from behind us. We instantly drop our hands, blood rushing up to my cheeks creating a flush of color.
From behind Zach comes the rest of us, Billy, Kim, and Trini. They create a sorta semi-circle around me and Jason.
"Should we do this?" Jason asks all of us. We nod in agreement and make our way to the ship.
As soon as we get there we take place on our place on our footprints so Zordon can speak to us.
"You need to follow the three rules to being a Power Ranger." Zordon says. "You must never use your powers for person gain, you must never escalate a fight unless your enemy forces you to, and you must never reveal your identity. Ever." Zordon finishes his sentence and we all nod in understanding.
"To assume your Ranger identities you need to morph." Zordon continues. "Have any of you morphed before?"
"Yes. But, only in the shower." Zach says, crossing his arms. We all chuckle looking around at each other.
"Okay okay let's step into the footprints please." Alpha tells us. We all follow as told and step onto our respected footprints.
"Standing in this circle as a team, you can easily connect to the morphing grid." Zordon starts to say. "Do you feel it?" He asks us.
"No. Not feeling it." Zach says.
"You need to morph to get your armor."
"Oh I knew it! We do get armor." Billy beams. "Maia We get armor! Oh, we get armor!" He says to be a big goofy grin writes across his face. I laugh and look over to Jason doing the same thing.
"Cool. Why don't you give us the armor?" Zach asks Zordon.
"You already have it. Inside of you." Zordon answers. "You bring it out by connecting to each other." He continues. "And connecting to the Morphing grid. Clear your minds and focus."
We all look around at each other nodding in understanding. I close my eyes in pure concentration. The morphing grid starts to glow and move around circles. Zordon speaks about the Power Ranger history but I block it out due to pure concentration.
Suddenly the grid stops glowing and Zordon stops talking. "What happened?" I say.
Kim adds on by asking, "What? What did it work?"
"Alpha 5 why didn't they morph." Zordon asks.
"Yeah I don't know sir. It's disturbing." Alpha says. "Very disturbing it might take some time."
"We don't have time." Zordon demands. We all stand around in silence listening to Alpha and Zordon conversation.
"If they can't morph what are we supposed to do?"
"They'll have to train without armor." Oh no. "They need to prepare."
"Without armor? Sir that will be very painful." Alpha says.
"Take them down to the pit." Zordon says in a very serious tone.
"Alright follow me. We're going to the pit!" Alpha tells us.
"Jason I don't wanna know what the pit is." Billy says innocently.
Alpha leads us down to what is supposedly "the pit". I take a look around and all I can see is rocks.
"So this is the pit. It's nice right?" Alpha asks us.
Zordon interrupts us by saying, "Alpha 5, start the exercise."
"Uh...sorry guys." Alpha apologizes to us.
"The creatures before you are a simulation of Rita's army. They're called putties. You must get through them to get to her." Alpha explains to us.
"Oh no no no Jason!" Billy screams.
"Cool. Look guys relax it's a hologram. Like a video game, look." Zach says before going up to one of them and fighting them. The "puttie" pushes him all the way to the other side of the pit.
"That's a strong ass hologram." Billy says making everyone laugh.
"This is why you must morph into your armor. If Rita becomes strong enough to build her army it'll be the beginning of the end." Zordon says, scaring us all.
"Rangers, welcome to training."
