"I can't believe I let you convince me to come here." I whine as Alice pulls my arm.
"I'm a very persuasive person." She chirps and pulls me into her home.
About an hour or so ago I got a call from Alice, asking if I wanted to go to her house for some tea. I obviously said no, I didn't want to be in a house full of vampires. I don't even know how she managed to get my number. But she managed to convince me somehow, so here I am. She pulls me up the stairs, and into the kitchen.
"Well I already started the tea, and it should be done." The sound of a tea kettle whistling fills my ears, in fact it's so loud I have to cover my ears. "Sorry." Alice smiles sheepishly.
"Is there a specific reason you wanted me to come over?" I ask.
"Well I definitely could use another girlfriend, and I'm sure you could too. And I've seen us become the greatest of friends." Alice explains as she hands me a cup of tea.
"And what do you mean by "I've seen us"?"
"Well I can see the future." She chimes.
"Can all vampires see the future?" I ask.
"No. Some vampires have gifts, but not all. I can see the future, Edward can read peoples minds, Jasper can change peoples emotions, and Venus can control metal at her will." I nod my head and take a sip of my tea.
"This is really good." I put my tea down and put my chin on my hand.
"Why thank you."
"Alice why did you bring a mutt into the house?" I turn my head to find a tall blonde standing in the doorway.
"Rosalie!"
"I'm not a mutt for you information. I'm a werewolf, big difference." I mutter. I get out of my chair. "I believe I over stayed my welcome, so I will be going." I smooth out my jeans and start to leave, before Alice stops me.
"You don't have to go."
"I obviously am not welcome, so I am leaving." She lets me go and I leave their luxurious home. I get into the truck and drive towards home. I got about half way home till I saw one of the Cullen's cars pulled off to the side of the road, and Jacobs rabbit sitting on the other side. I decide to investigate and pull the truck over.
"No you didn't." Jacobs voice enters my ears. I jump out of the truck and run over to the forest. I find my imprint, Edward Cullen, and Bella Swan all standing there talking.
"This looks like a lovely chat." I interrupt. "I saw your car parked on the road and figured I'd stop to investigate. I'm glad I did." I trek my way up to Jacob and grab his hand.
"Thank you too Artemis, for keeping Bella alive." Edwards voice breaks my attention from Jacob and to him.
"Glad you're still alive, and it was the right thing to do." Edward nods and starts to turn around before Jacob stops him.
"I'm still talking. I'm here to remind you of a key point in the treaty."
"I haven't forgotten." Edward mutters. Jacob tries to shoulder past me, but I stop him.
"You really want to do this here?" He nods his head and calms down. Edward and Bella leave, leaving me and Jacob standing there. "Why do you care so much anyways?" I ask him.
"Bella's one of my best friends, I can't just let this happen to her." He lays his head on my shoulder.
"Let's go back to Sams, he called me a while ago and wanted us both over." I grab his hand and pull him out of the woods. "Do you wanna drive, or just go with me?"
"The latter." I nod and we get in the truck. "Why do you smell like vampire?" Jacob wrenches.
"I was at the Cullens'." I tell him. "Alice invited me over for tea and I went drank some tea, then left." He nods and grabs my hand.
The drive to Sams was quick, since his house is basically on the border. All the boys of the cult run out of the house when we pull in.
"Our favorite outsider!" Embry exclaims as he opens my door.
"I'm not an outsider." I smack the back of his head.
"But you aren't in the pack, so outsider." I smack the back of Jared's head too.
"You guys go do something so I can talk to Artemis." Sam orders the boys, and they gladly listen. Jacob is a little reluctant, but eventually follows the other boys into the woods. "Come on." He nods towards the house and I follow him in.
"What's up?" I sit down at the small dinner table.
"I have a huge favor to ask, and you're probably gonna say no." I nod my head for him to continue. "I need you to go somewhere for me. There's a pack, that I have to get information to and you're the only one I trust to do it. And I think you could learn a lot from them." He tells me.
"How long would I be gone?"
"At least two weeks."
"You know there's a thing called a telephone?" I muse. He gives me a pointed look. "Where is it?"
"Warm Springs."
"So you want me to leave my imprint for two weeks, to deliver a message?" Sam nods. "Why would I do that if I don't have to. You're not my Alpha, I don't have to listen to you." I growl.
"There are more female shifters there. They're not Quileute, so I'm hoping they have more information for you then I do." I nod my head.
"I'll talk it over with Jacob, then I'll let you know." Sam nods and his eyes glaze over, telling me that he's linking Jacob.
"He's on his way back now." Sam looks to the door and I turn around to see Jacob already standing there.
"Sorry I didn't go with the boys, I just went over the hill." Sam nods. I get up and let Jacob follow me down to the beach. I finally sit down, basking in the rare sunlight.
"Did you hear any of our conversation?" He shakes his head and plops down next to me.
"Sam asked me to go to Warm Springs for two weeks. Says there's a pack there that might be able to give me some information on female shifters, and he wants me to deliver a message for him." I explain.
"Do you want to go?"
I think. Do I really want to travel away from my imprint, be in physical pain without him? That is the con. The pro is, I could learn more about Leah and I.
"I think it would be good for me to understand more of Leah and I. But I just don't want to leave you." I lean my head on his shoulder. "What do you think I should do?"
"Well I obviously don't want to be away from you, but if you think you'll get some info on you and Leah then I say go. I mean it's ultimately up to you." I take my head off his shoulder and look at him.
"How did I get so lucky?" He shrugs his shoulders. I grab his face in my hands and turn him towards me. The sunlight makes his russet skin glow, and his dark brown eyes stick out. "I love you Jacob Black." His pearly white teeth shine as he smiles.
"I love you too, Artemis Lahote." He breathes out before he pulls my lips against his.
