"Take the damn dress Artemis!" Rose exclaims.
"Why do I have to even go to this stupid thing?" I groan. I take the dress out of her hands and give her my towel.
"Because if we have to go, you have to go." I roll my eyes and slip into the dress.
It's been about a week since I moved in with the Cullens. Carlisle studies me everyday when he's home from the hospital. I've become very close friends with Rosalie, and Emmett. Everybody has been so welcoming, they've treated me like I was one of them since day one. Jacob comes over everyday. We normally leave the house because he doesn't like being surrounded by vampires, which is understandable. Sam knows about me because he forced Jacob to tell him, and so far he hasn't tried anything. Paul texts me everyday to see how I'm doing, which I'm thankful he doesn't hate me.
Anyways, tonight is the graduation party for Bella, Edward, and Alice. They are all forcing me to go, which is ridiculous. I'd rather not deal with drunk teenagers all night, especially when I can barely control myself around Bella. Carlisle said that I should be fine, and that if anything happens he'll help calm me down. But now Rose is forcing me into a tight red dress.
"How are my favorite ladies?" Emmett asks from the door way. I slip on a pair of black lace up heels.
"You know I could've been ass naked." I point out. Rose throws my towel back at my face and speeds over to Emmett. She grabs his face and kisses him like she'll never see him again. "Get a room." I gag, to further my point. She lets go of him and rolls her eyes at me. The sound of music pounds in my ears, and kids conversations. "I really don't want to go to this." I whine. Rose grabs my arm and pulls me out of my room while I pout. I pull my arm from her grasp and smooth out the silk of my dress. We file into the living room, where everyone is dancing and conversing. I glance around the room, fidgeting under the gazes of people who are wondering who I am. An arm pulls me out of the sea of people and over to the side of the room.
"I really can't believe Alice threw another party." Edward mutters under his breath. "You looked uncomfortable so I figured I'd grab you." I murmur a thank you. "Is Jacob coming?"
"No idea. You know he doesn't like being here." I sigh.
"But he comes everyday to see you, even though he hates being here. He is so in love with you." Edward tells me.
"I'd imagine that's how you are with Bella. Speaking of." He spins around to find his girlfriend standing behind him.
"Your boyfriends here." She tells me and points towards the stairs. My eyes follow her finger and there he is. My breath catches when I see him in a tight black shirt, and a pair of jeans. He catches my gaze and walks over to me.
"How's my favorite hybrid girlfriend?" He asks, jokingly as he wraps his arms around my waist.
"Well Rose forced me into this dress, while Bella is just wearing what she always wears. And this is her party." Bella chuckles behind me, and drags Edward into the party.
"Well if it's worth anything, you look stunning." He whispers in my ear. I give him a small smile before I kiss him. Somebody coughs behind us and I pull away from Jacob. I look behind him to see Paul and Embry standing there. I let go of my imprint and run into their arms.
"I missed you guys so much." I murmur. Embry lets go of me, and let's Paul hug me.
"I'm just glad you're okay." He puts me at an arms length and looks me over. "You look the same."
The hair on my arms stands up, and my stomach twists.
"Besides that. Why the hell are your eyes yellow?" Paul asks.
"Somethings wrong." I let go of my cousin, and walk around the living room. Alice stands on the stairs, staring off into space. I push past people and reach to Alice. "What's wrong?"
"They're not going to Seattle." She grabs my arm and pulls me to Carlisle's office, where the rest of the family already is waiting. Edward probably saw her vision then got Rose and Emmett, Rin, Carlisle and Esme were already here, Venus and Jasper probably had a gut feeling about their best friend. Jacob, Paul, and Embry had followed us into the office.
"They'll be here in four days." Alice starts, Rin stands beside her.
"This could turn into a bloodbath." Carlisle points out, already knowing what she was talking about.
"Who's behind it?" Emmett asks.
"I didn't recognize anyone, maybe one." Edwards face scrunches together.
"Riley Biers, he's local. He didn't start this." Edward mutters.
"Well whoever did is staying out of the action. They're playing with the blind spots of Alice's visions." I explain.
"Either way, an army's coming. Even with Artemis, there isn't enough of us to protect the town." Jasper says from the corner. Jacob clutches onto my hand.
"Wait a minute. What damn army?" Jacob demands.
"Newborns, our kind." Carlisle says.
"What are they after?" Embry asks.
"They were passing around Bella's scent." Alice murmurs.
"What the hell does this mean." Paul growls.
"An ugly fight. Lives lost."
"Alright. We're in." Jacob says.
"No way." Bella starts. "You're not going to risk your lives."
"I'm with her on this one." I turn Jacob towards me.
"If you're fighting, then so are we. And I wasn't asking permission. Sam will be up for it." He turns towards Carlisle. "So we're in." Carlisle nods and turns to Jasper.
"They'll give us the numbers. The newborns won't know they even exist." Jasper stands up.
"We'll all need some training." Carlisle says. "Artemis will coordinate with you." Jacob nods and pulls me out of the room. The boys follow us.
"I'll meet you guys at Sams." They nod and leave us. "Let's go outside." Jacob pulls me out of the house, and into the woods.
"Why are we in the woods Jacob?" I muse.
"I wanted some privacy to do this."
"Do what?" He stops, and I turn towards him.
"I guess with this army coming this is the best time to do this. Artemis Lahote, I love you with all of me. I cant imagine my life without you, and I'm definitely going to spend the rest of my life with you. But I want to just kind of make things official. So," He gets down on one knee, and pulls out a small box. "I know how much you hate rings, so I didn't get you one." He opens the box to reveal a small crescent moon necklace. "Artemis Lahote, will you do me the honor of marrying me?" My heart skips a beat.
"Of course Jacob Black." A grin breaks out on his face and he wraps his arms around me, lifting me into the air. He puts me down and turns me around. I grab all of my hair and he puts the necklace on me. I turn back around and wrap my arms around his shoulders. "I can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together."
