Eavesdropping

"Shizu-chan!" Izaya called out. It was early morning in Ikebukuro and Shizuo was speed-walking away from his enemy.

"Eh, Shizu-chan, you big blonde brute! Listen!"

The Fortissimo sighed as he turned around, took out a cigarette, lit it, and began to smoke. "What?! What the hell do you want?"

"Well-uh," Izaya wasn't used to Shizuo actually stopping to listen to him. He'd never made it this far. Hmm... Weird.

"Where you going? Back to the dumpster? Oh right, I mean your apartment!"

He smirked as he flung a switchblade at the blonde.

The Beast caught it in his teeth and smashed it to smithereens with his, well...teeth.

"What was that..." His arm instantly ripped out a red-and-white "No Trespassing" sign. "ABOUT MY APARTMENT?!"

Nearly everyone who was up in Ikebukuro groaned, knowing what would come next.

As Izaya and Shizuo began to fight, Celty almost instantly came out to stop them. She typed something to Shizuo, then gave a him a black helmet.

Izaya raised an eyebrow. "Where you headed off to?"

"None of your business, flea."

And with that, Celty and Shizuo took off on the black bike.

Izaya pressed his ear against the back door, trying hard to eavesdro-listen.

Instead of leaving them alone, Izaya grew curious. Why? Well, maybe Celty or somebody else knew about the weird new thing that just started in Ikebukuro.

Unfortunately, he couldn't catch everything Shinra was saying, but he did hear a bit...

"M I...F P...Shizuo, maybe?" And then a gasp from what sounded like a lot of people.

Izaya raised his eyebrows. Was Shizuo involved in this little get-up? And what about Shinra? Why were they invited to Shinra's?

Suddenly, a great idea popped into the informant's mind. Namie! He quickly snapped out his cellphone and dialled Namie's number.

Shinra's voice spoke up. "Oh? Who is it Namie?"

A few gasps.

"It...im!" Namie's voice was lowered to a whisper, and it was hard to understand her, though Izaya could make out her words. It's him.

"Pick it up! Pick it up!" Shinra urged.

Everyone quieted as Namie answered her ringing cellphone. "What is it, Izaya?"

Now it was Izaya's turn to go quiet. What was he thinking?! If he answered, they'd all hear his voice right outside the door, but if he didn't answer, they'd clearly be suspicious of him. So, as noiselessly as he could, Izaya dashed to a run-down apartment, and rounded the corner.

"Hey, Namie," He finally answered.

Namie rolled her eyes. "What is it?" She repeated.

"Um, I was just wondering where you were."

"Why?" Namie snapped.

"Because your brother is in trouble!" Izaya smirked.

"WHAT?! I'M SORRY MR. KISHITANI BUT I CAN'T ATTEND TODAY'S MEETING!"

With that, she hung up.

Oh. So Shinra was holding some kind of meeting. About what? Izaya himself? And who else was invited? What did she mean by today's meeting? Did that mean there had already been meetings in the past?

Izaya had no choice but to use force.

He grinned and called Namie again.

"WHERE IS HE?!?!" Namie screeched.

"With me. If you tell me where you were just a second ago, with Mr. Kishitani, I'll let him go." Of course, Izaya didn't actually have Seiji at the moment. But he could always pretend.

He heard Namie fall silent on the other end. "I had Mr. Kishitani do some surgery on somebody, and I came to make sure he was doing it right."

"And what were you doing with Shizu-chan?"

Namie smirked. "Ooh~" She sang, using Izaya's embarrassing response against him. "Someone's jealous!"

Izaya's face went red, reminding him of what happened a week ago.

"Don't worry, Izaya. I'm not falling for him. But Seiji is mine! So hand him over!"

"Seiji... Is safe at his house! Bye!" Izaya quickly hung up before Namie could even process what he just said.
