Chapter 5
Kimberly's POV
“Well first..... I will go out and tell them you are not here, than I will have them leave. Then, I will give you a signal, than you will go into town, and take a train to a small town in Alabama. And the rest is up to you." His face scrunched up in thought, and he quickly asked, not giving me time to reply, "Do you have any money saved up?"
Me, being the devious person I am, replied back, my eyes looking at the floor, as I shuffled my feet on the ground, "No, I never really thought my life would come to this point so soon." I looked up into his eyes, biting my lip awkwardly, to see them filled with an unknown emotion.
He shook his head, than muttered something along the lines of 'Women and their money.' I raised an eyebrow, looking at him with an exspresion that said, 'Really?'
He met my eyes, than told me, kind of forced, while handing me a wad of cash, "Than here is 20,000 dollars."
I looked at him in disbelief, I mean WHO THE HELL CARRYS 20,000$ ON THEM?!
I looked into his gaze, and said, my mouth hung open, "Uh, thanks?" It sounded more like a question, because of my shock.
He nodded his glorious head, and stood up. I quickly stood up, and went and hid in the safe room, but not before hearing, “Good luck, and plan escape is at a go.”
I shut the large metal door behind me, and waited for his signal. The safe room was kind of like a second bedroom to me, my parents and I usually stayed in here for days on end, and if even a threat as to knowing where we were surfaced. There was a comfy, large brown couch in the center of the room, a large plasma screen TV in front of it, and two doors on each side of the room which lead to my bedroom, which had a bathroom, thank God, and my parents bedroom.
There was also a small kitchen stocked with enough food for 25 years, if it ever came to that. My parents were always careful safety wise.
I sat down on the comfy couch, and closed my eyes, thinking about everything that Onyx had said.
One tear slid down my cheek, and as if the signal, a few more salty tears slowly crawled down my cheek. He said he hated me, and didn’t want anything to do with me. For heaven’s sakes, he was my Mate!
I whipped away my tears, but more came. I sighed. Why can’t I stop crying?
I relaxed, and grabbed the TV remote. I flipped on the history channel. Pawn Stars were on. Gosh I love that show!
What is taking Onyx sooooo long? I wondered carelessly.
Should I go investigate?
Or would I be caught?
Or is he in trouble?
Did they believe his story?
Oh I hope they did….
My mind made up, I sat up from the couch, and numbly, on high alert, walked across the wood floors to the strong door. I breathed in deeply, and slowly opened the door.
I strained my hearing, listening for the slightest sound. I heard nothing, other than a bird call from outside the house, and the distant roar of thunder.
I sniffed the air, picking up Onyx’s scent trail, and a large scent of rain. It would appear Onyx went out the back door…
I slowly took one step out the safe room’s door, in a defensive position. I pushed my hair behind my ear, and walked out into the living room, scanning the area for any signs of a fight. Still in a defensive position, I quickly made my way across the living room, past the very spot were Onyx had rejected me.
