Chapter 13
*~Kimberly’s POV~*
“W-What do you mean?” I stuttered, looking down at the ground. And who is Running Wind? I wanted to silently add.
Onyx let out a low hiss, and took a large step around me, and blocked my view of the little girl. He let out a low growl, and stated, “Name?” His voice dripped with venom. I could feel the suspicion rolling off him in waves.
“Alice.” She simply stated, calm and collected. I couldn’t see her, but I figured she was meeting Onyx’s hard glare with a mini-glare of her own. I could feel Onyx’s patience wearing thin.
I heard Jason stepping in front of Sarah; well I should call her my sister.
“Onyx, I can handle myself!” I hissed, tugging on Onyx’s arm. He turned around for a split second to shoot me a beautiful smirk, and then he turned back around to face the little girl. Sighing, I put my leg behind his own legs, and grabbed the sides of his stomach, and pushed him backwards. He tripped over my own legs, sending him hurtling to the ground with a startled ‘yip!’
I heard Jason’s snickers behind me, but I didn’t care. I looked at Onyx’s face, and gave him a small kiss on the nose. He looked pretty mad to be humiliated. I let out a small giggle, and then turned to Alice.
She was standing, hands on her hips, tapping her feet. A small pout flashed across her face. She had an amused look on her face as her eyes wondered to Onyx. She let out a small giggle, than turned to look at me.
“We must go, now.” She whispered urgently, looking from side to side, sniffing the air.
Onyx stood up quickly, whipping his dead leaves off his shorts. “No way in hell are we going with you!” he hissed, trying to get in front of me again. I let out a small growl, and pushed him back. He stumbled back a few steps, and turned to glare at Jason who just chuckled.
Sarah wasn’t even paying attention. She was looking around, staring at nothing in particular. Jason was holding her tight against him, as if she were his last piece of meat. He had his arm around her waist possessively, staring at Alice with wonder lighting his eyes.
I turned on my heel back to Alice, who was staring at Sarah with curiosity. She than shook her head, and started walking into the house. Jason, Onyx, Sarah and I all sat there, watching her walk.
“You guys coming, or not? I bet you all are hungry!” She added, making my stomach growl in response. I turned to give Onyx and Jason a questioning look, and they all just shrugged their shoulders.
Sighing, I took a step, and followed Alice towards the Log cabin, everyone else following behind me, Sarah lowly murmuring to Jason.
I strained to hear what she was whispering, “I recognize that little girl.” Sarah whispered quickly, “I don’t know from where or when, but I seriously recognize her.”
“Really? I wonder where you know her from.” Jason whispered back curiously.
Onyx sped up to walk next to me, wrapping his arm around me waist. Tingles went up and down my spine, desire filling me.
The little girl held the door open for us, and whispered, “Shh Running Wind is sleeping in his room in the other side of the cabin.” Her eyes darted side to side as we shuffled in. She closed the door quietly behind her, a crazed look in her eyes.
“So, Alice,” I started, not knowing what to say. She looked at me, and tilted her head to the side.
“Nice place you got, Alice. Is it your house?” Onyx butted in, looking around, observing the wooden furniture. The room was warm, with beautiful antique furniture. The crackling of a fireplace sounded in another room, and a heart beat echoed in my ears.
