I jogged lightly fown the stairs huffing in each step. My hair was not cooperating with me today and i almost snapped my spine in the shower. Yesterday night David put me in a terrible mood and now it's affecting my whole being.
Reaching the kitchen is observed before realising the coast was clear. I proceeded grabbing items to make a sandwich. Today I planned on avoiding David for as long as possible. It dawned on me how he felt whenever he had a fit. I certainly did not want to sit and talk as I force him to do.
The front door opened and slammed shut signalling either Claire or a vwry hyper Kian had waltzed into my home. I hadn't seen David all day, so I presumed he was still in his office, avoiding me and not bothering to check who was at the door, shutting it like a mad man.
"GOOD MORNING HEBREW!!"
I covered my ears rolling my eyes as he came into view. I finished assembling my sandwich grabbing a bit before putting away the dishes. I was the only one who came to this house and cleaned up after myself. Except Helga of course.
Kian's entered the kitchen and took my sandwhich. "Ewwww! You're practically kissing me. Give me my god damn sandwich you overgrown baby" I slapped the back of his head causing crumbs to spill from his mouth. I was going to be sick.
He wore a denim jacket with beige sleeves. His white shirt fell over his slim black jeans and a pair of white low sneakers were on his feet. His hair was messy and going in different directions. He was such a boy.
"You sound like my baby sister" he said with a toothless smile and a full mouth. "Is that a compliment?" I asked with a curious face. He scrunched one side of his face making me giggle. And shakedown then nodded his head. "Do you wanna meet them?" He asked "I thought they were in Italy" I did not think I was ready to go back there just yet.
He nodded his head eating my other sandwich. It took him a few seconds before a worried expression covered his face. "Sorry". I heaved out a 'don't worry'. He blabbered on about his family, I was listening but absent. And during the times I would talk to David, but I couldn't face him right now.
"That reminds me I haven't been to the cinema in a while. Want to go now?" I shook my head murmuring a small yes before scurrying up the steps again these stairs are all the exercise I need today.
Sprinting into the room I came face to face with a surprised but calm David. Our eyes lingered and the tension in the air began to build up. A towel hung loosely around his waist and gulped slowly. Water droplets caused my eyes the dash all around him. My throat want dry and I suddenly became lost for words.
"Saryah we need to talk" he said in a low voice. I almost fell and died at the way his voice sounded. It had a gritty feeling to it. He was stressed and tired, I almost felt bad for causing such pain on him.
"I know" I whispered before entering the closet. "We can talk later tonight" I spoke solemnly from the closet. I couldn't turn to him as I pretended to ponder on the clothing inside of there.
"Okay I'm going to go see Claire always".
I raised my brows springing my head from behind the door frame. "Do you think that's a good idea?" I whispered. "I can't let her hate me she's all I've got other than..... I have to talk to her" he said as he threw on a blue polo shirt with the first two buttons undone, and a pair of black jeans.
I wondered who he was talking about but I didn't want to pester him. Last night still hung not the air and I wasn't ready for more awkwardness. Hearing the bedroom door shut and not too long after the front one, I finished dressing speedily and exited the closet.
My phone beeped indicating I received a text. I looked at my screen
K-dog: the cinema is going to close by the time your ready Hebrew
I rushed down the stairs and sped out the door after grabbing a spare key. Waving off Dante and Al, I sped towards the car. I could see Kian's dark hair flopping through the slightly tinted windows. He was oblivious to my entering as he bopped his head relentlessly. "Gesú" he jumped after a few seconds noticing I was seated at his side. I giggled lightly as he caught his breath smiling. Refusing to turn away I coughed slightly breaking the ice.
"To the movies".
When Kian and I reached the cinema a middle aged woman at the counter beaming towards us. "You guys look adorable matching and all. Young love is adorbale" she grinned.
Looking down I noticed my beige jumper matched his sleeves and my jeans matched his jacket. Plus we were both wearing white trainers. My eyebrows furrowed. How could she just assume we were a couple.
"Ohh were not a -" Kian interrupted me abruptly asking for two tickets the a new romantic comedy. We entered the theatre room with me confused as ever.
"Why didn't you let me tell her we weren't togethe-?""Shhh Hebrew. We got free tickets".
***********
"Wish me luck" I pleased to Kian as I exited the car. He wiggled his eyebrow, chuckled and blew me a kiss. I chuckled lightly and closed the door running towards the house. When I opened the door David sat in the living room with a blank expression on his face.
"David" he shook his head as if he was thinking about something important before I came in. "I knew I said I would cook dinner. I didn't think it would take this long. I'm sorry".
"Princess, come here" he patted his palm on his thighs. I hesitantly sat near him on he couch with a worried facial expression plastered on my face.He pulled me in until my head was resting against his chest.
"I'm sorry Saryah".
I let the silence and his apology hang in the air. It lingered for long, I did not know what to say."I don't know what's gotten into me these past few days. The most important women in my life right now are Helga, Claire and you. Dom said he loved you when you were gone and I don't understand how that kind of feeling could just fade in a year."
"I don't want him to screw my sister over by telling her he still loves you the night before her wedding. He would tear our family apart. Claire would definitely not blame you but she won't be able to look either of us in the face anymore. I'm just worried". I looked into his face and placed my hand against he cheek. He released all the tension falling into my fingers. His face was so cold.
"I love you so much." He nuzzled his head into my neck and rubbed my hair making me relax.
"I love you too".
That was all I needed to say.
