History: A 4,900 year old carving on an Egyptian tomb confirms the antiquity of this breed. Exported to Spain, China, Persia, and elsewhere, the Greyhound was developed to its present from in Great Britain. Its name derives from the old Saxon word grei, meaning fine, or beautiful.
