*Hallie's POV*

Thunder rolled from outside my small hospital window, the constant beeping sound ringing in my ears. The sound, most would believe, should be annoying. But it's not. It's just a constant reminder that I am still here. Breathing.  A blonde haired guy sat in the corner of the room, his head down as he slept peacefully. Trust me when I say he deserves it.

My light green eyes wandered around the room, scanning things for the thousandth time. It was a quiet night in the hospital tonight, my mind observed while I ran my hand along the smooth skin of my head, where my hair used to be.

Good thing my eyes were my best feature, huh? Reaching beside me, I grasped the glass of water sitting on the bed stand. It fell right through my hands. I stared at it, blinking several times as the plastic cup fell on the floor with a loud noise. I moved my gave to my hand, which was now shaking. After a moment of realization I realized my entire body was shaking.

"Hallie?! " A voice called, and I strained to respond through my cracked pale lips. Nothing came.

"Oh god no," he whispered, and I felt him take my hand. Parts of my body were numbing, yet a great deal of pain surged through me. I could faintly hear the footsteps that rushed into my room.

Hands were then everywhere as they tried to get me to stay, but I was too far gone.

Nothing. Soon I felt absolutely nothing. I knew I was dying in this moment, and I was okay with that. I had lived the life I wanted to live and could now go peacefully. Of course I was destroying the lives of those who meant dearly to me, but they would get over it.

And then there was Luke. I hope he will listen for my wish that he moves on after my death. He is only 21, he deserves a full life. I hope he finds a lady that will be good for him and for Zuri. They need it.

I felt my thoughts float away, and watched it became all but a distant memory. As my life flashes before my eyes, I want to smile. But before I know it, everything goes black.

*Luke's POV*

"Time of death, 6:27 p.m," the doctor says and I stare at him in simple disbelief. My hand still desperately clutched hers, as I looked at her still body. Tears have now clouded my eyes, blurring my vision of the girl lying in front of me. Completely beautiful, in every way possible.

I know she told me to move on. Not to linger on her. But how can I forget the past thirteen years, just like that. My phone vibrated in my pants pocket, as I lifted my hand to wipe vigorously at the tears before unlocking it.

Of course it was a text message from Ashton, I mean Hallie was his cousin. I looked at Hallie again, before stepping out of the room. I don't know what quite happened there but I do know that I screamed very loudly, along with sobbing hysterically.

Nurse  Scott came over as I slid down the wall beside her room, completely sobbing. She didn't get upset with me for disrupting the peace of the hospital. She just simply rested her hand on my shoulder, and for that I was glad.

A little while later, she helped me down to the lobby where I thanked her before heading to my car. After getting to my car I sat for a little while before I looked at what the message Ashton had sent me read.

Ashton: Hey, just looking for an update. Hallie didn't answer her text, so just give me a call soon.

I stared at it for a little while. Hallie will never respond to Ashton's text message.

I finally was able to start my car, making the short drive from the hospital to our- well my house.

Unlocking the front door, I trudged to the couch. It wasn't very long after I had once again started crying, with the photo collage she had made of us hugged tightly against my aching chest when the door opened.
