"Yeah, alright dad. Yes, I'm fine, Betty's fine, everyone is fine." I say into my phone and grabbing a cookie, eating it as I walk out the door.

I lock the trailer door, "Just locked up, leaving now."

"Bye dad." I say, hanging up.

I guess I should appreciate the fact that he cares enough to call and check in. He was already at the Whyte Wyrm, rising bright and early to meet the serpents for something. There's been a lot of talk about me, my dad says. Especially my friends who wonder where I've been. I miss them, maybe I should go back soon.

I enter my car, getting ready to drive to Betty's house and pick her up. It was already 11:10, I had slept in and was running a bit late but Betty will understand.

Once I reach her house I knock on the door, expecting Mrs. Cooper to answer the door but instead, it's Hal. He didn't stay at home most nights, Betty tells me, her mom kicked him out but it's not easy suddenly being apart from someone you've been married to for decades. He sleeps at the register, Betty had told me.

"Hi Hal." I say, he doesn't deserve the respect of 'Mr.Cooper'.

"Jughead." he sneers. "I was just leaving, you can go inside."

I nod in response. I move to the side and he leaves,
not saying goodbye to his family. I enter the house afterwards, closing the door.

"Betty?" I call out. "Mrs. Cooper."

Alice peers out of the kitchen. "Oh, hello Jughead! I didn't hear you at the door."

"Hal let me in."

"Oh, he left?" she asks.

I nod with a weak smile.

"Well, Betty's still up in her room, go ahead."

"Thanks, Mrs. Cooper." I say as I trot up the stairs.

I knock lightly on the door to Betty's room, her voice soon after calling out "Come in!"

I open the door slowly, peeking my head through as if asking permission to come in. Her face lights up when she sees me, that smile was the thing I always looked forward to when I saw her again.

I walk in, closing the door behind me before facing her.

"Hi."

She bounces off her bed, running towards me and hugging me. "Hi."

I take her by surprise as I lift her up, earning a giggle from her as she wraps her legs around my torso and arms around my neck.

"Fancy seeing you here." I say.

She furrows her brows and chuckles, "Your in my house, idiot."

"Well I came here to take you to my place."

"That doesn't correlate at all Jug." she grins down at me.

I frown, dropping her on her bed. "You've ruined the mood."

"Aw, don't be upset." she pouts dramatically.
