Best friends- Clay Jensen

Today is the day of Hannah bakers funeral...I know it's pretty surreal that it's finally happened. Five months after her suicide and Bryce walker still roams the streets of LA a free man.

I'm Jenna Evans, and I was Hannah bakers best friend for pretty much the whole time she was here. I pull the black dress over my head and throw on a cardigan because it was pretty chilly outside.

The walk to the church was dull, nothing seemed exiting anymore. she brought colour to the world.

I stop outside the double doors of what seems like, prestige church. pondering for a moment on wether I really wanted to say anything and then I open the heavy doors and walk in. I take a seat next to Mrs. baker and wait for my turn to speak.

"I understand that Hannah Baker's best friend would like to speak?" The priest looks towards me and I get up to face the rows of people.

"Hannah baker wasn't  just my friend, she was like a sister to me, we did everything together and we stood by each other when we were at the lowest points in our lives... And now that she's gone it feels like a huge part of my life is missing."

I look forward and I see Mrs baker forcing back tears.

"But if she were here right now, she wouldn't want us to remember her as somebody who's life was cut short but as somebody who has lived and loved."

By now, tears were streaming down my face.

As soon as I stepped down from the podium, I'm engulfed in a hug by clay and Mrs baker.

Clay is one of my favourite people in the world. We really connected after Hannah died. I helped him and he helped me.

"That speech was amazing." Clay starts when we reach my car.

" it really reminded me of Hannah, she wanted the best for everyone. "

I look down at my lap, tears threatening to spill from my eyes.

"Yeah, and Bryce took her life from her. Not literally but mentally."

" after that party, she was never the same again. "

"I just wish I noticed it, my best friend would still be here...now I have nobody."

" Hey. " clay starts, putting his hand on my shoulder.

"You have me, Justin and all of my friends."

I look up at him.

"From now on, we are all best friends. Okay?"

I nod. Thankfully I had people like them in my life.
