"A little more to the left."  Jessica instructed me, I was currently hanging up the banner for prom near the entrance of the school and Jessica is on the prom committee.

Jessica and I have been best friends since kindergarten, we met on the first day, my mom packed me an apple Capri Sun and it accidentally burst all over her white dress. She didn't get mad, instead she helped me clean it up and she hung out with me at lunch and the rest is history...

I am the complete opposite of Jessica, she is an extroverted queen but I on the other hand like to keep myself to myself.

" Liz, guess who just walked in with a hickey ! " Courtney runs up to me, scaring me half to death.

I roll my eyes at her and scoff, "Do I really need to know!"

"It was tony" she blurts out causing my breathing to momentarily come to a halt.

I really have bad luck when it comes to relationships- Tony dumped me last year for a man!.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against anybody in the lgbt+ community or spectrum but Tony didn't even tell me that we were over, he just took brad (his boyfriend) to last year's homecoming instead of me and then, knowingly kissed him when I was there.

"Well, I didn't need to know that but thank you?" I tell Courtney but instead of coming out as a statement it almost sounded like a question.
 
"Hey, Jess?" I say once I finish tying the banner.

" Mhm? " she muttered, busy making sure that the poster was properly stapled to the wall.

"I'm gonna go find Zack and see if he has seen Scott" I say, grabbing my bag and walking down the ball to wait at Zacks locker.

Scott Reed is my boyfriend. I know what you're thinking.

Hopefully he won't dump me for someone else.

We met through Clay Jensen, whom I met whilst attending Hannah Baker's funeral.

"Lisa!"

My head snaps towards the direction I heard the voice and I see the last person that I wanted to see right now... Tony.

"What is it?" I say rather annoyed that he has the audacity to approach me.

" I broke up with Brad"

I chuckle.

"And why should I care?" I ask, I know that I seem rather bitchy but Tony is the biggest hypocrite alive. This moment seems rather similar to what happened last year with Jeff. (R.I.P)

"Because, I still love you Liz, and I know you still have feelings for me."

I gasp.

"Seriously Tony... I can't even believe how hypocritical you are being right now, please leave I don't think that you want Scott to see you talking to me."

He sighs in defeat and then walks away.

"Oh, and Tony!"

He turns around.

"I don't love you, I'll always have some sort of feelings toward you but not in that way."

Before I could see what his reaction was, I turn around because I hear the entrance door open and Zack walks in followed by Scott and Justin.

I run towards them and engulf Scott in the biggest hug that I have probably ever given.

He chuckles and then returns the gesture, wrapping his arms around my torso. (Picking me up a little because he's a bit taller than me).

"Okay, we are going to leave you two lovebirds alone" Justin says and then dragged zack away into the locker rooms.

"How'd it go?"  I ask, talking about the game that they had travelled for.

Scott smiles widely.

"We won!"

I hug him again and breathe in the scent of his cologne.

"I'm so proud of you..." I say, stating into the eyes that bore his soul. His eyes were like the clear oceans in Hawaii, you could see right through them into the abyss of his heart.

" I got you something" he tells me, digging into his pocket and bringing out a small black velvet box.

He opens it to reveal a simple ring, he knows that I find beauty in the most simple things.

"I know that you don't like extravagant things so I got you this ring and it was the simplest one I could find."

I was speechless. Words couldn't express the feeling that is pulsating through my body.

"It's a promise ring... I promise that one day, when we are older of course, that we will get married, I promise that my heart is yours, you stole it the first time I saw you and it will be yours for as long as I live."

Nobody speaks for a few seconds.

"If it's too much then I can always ta-"

Before he could finish his sentence I crash my lips onto his and for a few seconds, it's pure bliss until the principal interrupts us.

"PDA is not tolerated in this school eat each others faces off after school." He tells us sternly and I swear that in the distance I see Zack and Justin fangirling about the scene that just played out in front of them.

When principal Bolan left, the two boys turned fangirls rush up towards us.

"Before you ask me anything... How did you get out of the locker rooms without us seeing?"

Zack snorts, "That's because you were busy sucking each others faces off!" He laughs.

"Oh and by the way, you need to thank us because we were hyping Scott up in the car and believe me... If we didn't this," he says waving his finger towards us.

" wouldn't have happened. "

I swear these boys are going to be the death of me.

"Is that so?" I say, raising my eyebrows at Scott who is blushing.

I lean in and place my lips on his again causing both boys in front of us to groan in disgust.
