Chapter 8

Nick was released from the hospital a few days later. He had called a lawyer during that time. Matthew was doing only God knows what, in his apartment. The court date was set. It was a day away.

   Good news to most people, but bad news to Nick. His lawyer had warned him ahead of time that he didn't have much evidence against Matt, but his lawyer promised to do all he could for him. What would an eighteen year old that just escaped an abusive relationship do? Go visit his mom of course.

   After Nicholas told her all the details she wrapped him in a tight hug. Nick wasn't use to the attention. From Matthew he usually got painful hugs, slaps, or sex. He felt safe with his mom. "Nick." Said a familiar, tough voice. Nick turned around and was greeted by his father. The last time they saw each other it hadn't been on the best of terms.

   "Dad." Nick said, shocked, almost like he forgot his dad lived there too. "Glad you're home." Nick's father smiled. Of course I could go on about their family reunion or I could tell you about what Matthew was conducting at his apartment. Let's do the latter so I don't bore you to death.

   Matthew had turned bitter after the head doctor at the hospital told him that she knew what he'd done to nick. Matthew was in a rage. He slammed his fist against the wall in the hospital before calling the head doctor a liar and rushing to his car.

   His apartment was trashed from Steve gathering all his things and leaving. Steve had been more than disgusted with what he found out Matthew had done to nick. Matthew was actually a bit happy Steve was gone. Now he had the perfect apartment to himself.

   He also had a first class lawyer. Matthew explained what happened to the lawyer, who decided to spruce Matt's story up a bit for the trial.

   "Ready, Mr. Laws?" Nick nodded.

    "Ready Mr. Lush?" Matthew grinned. Let the trials begin.
