*** Chapter Fifteen ***

In the night he grabbed him, wrapping his arms around his skinny hips, pulling him closer. His body said no, but his mind said yes. It only took a few touches to make him melt, grabbing the other's face, and planting kisses to his all too familiar skin. His scent was mesmerizing. At that moment he would have not even thought twice about giving his painful past with his ex another go.

It all changed as soon as it started. The pain all came back. All the times he struggled against him. All the times he was left gasping for air, no one ever resuscitated him. The glass child walked around making others like him.

Nick woke up on the floor in a mess. He was cold and shaking. He looked up, seeing Matthew still asleep. As much as he wanted to leave Matthew here, he wanted him back. For some reason he missed Matthew and it scared him. The boy grabbed his chart off the bed.

Matthew was never arrested for what he did to Nick. A restraining order had been put in place, but neither saw that as a big ordeal. The older boy had been caught stealing from a gas station. Nick didn't know why. Matthew didn't need money. He had plenty, and his followers always sent him stuff from YouTube. He put the chart back down and sighed when seeing Matthew stir in his sleep. It looked like he was having a nightmare.

Nick pressed a kiss to his forehead before rushing outside. It was four am and there was a slight breeze outside. Someone was blowing smoke rings and leaning on the ledge of the mini stair way. "Hey Kid." Nick greeted. He was going to tell him to put out the cigarette but he the cancer he had would probably kill him before he could develop a cigarett issue.

"It's you." The kid sneered. "I'm Nick."

"I'm York. Don't judge me, I didn't pick the name." Nick chuckled. "It's cute." York shook his head in disgust. "What are you doing up so late, Mister?" Nick preteneded to be mad. "Catching up on my lost moments, what about you, doc?"

  "I couldn't sleep."

"Wanna tell me about it?" York put out the cigarette and turned towards Nick. "It's probably not something you'd understand..." he groaned, embarassed to tell anyone the details. York shrugged. "My abusive ex is back, and I think I still love him even though I fought so hard to get away from him. I wasn't even with him very long."

"We have more in common than you think. My parents were... yah know? After they would hit me and watch me bleed they'd feel guily and tell me they loved me, but I deserved that and worse. Sometimes I wanted to love them, sometimes I even thought I did." Nick choked a bit. He didn't think when York told him he had "shit parents" that they abused him. A lot of kids hate their parents.

"How long?" He asked. "I'm sixteen, so I guess, maybe fourteen years?" York said, moving on his feet awkwardly. They both stood there a minute, not sure what to do. "Come here." Nick wrapped York in his arms. "I'm so sorry." He broke down crying as he held the kid in his arms. After hearing York's story and thinking back to Matthew he didn't think he'd ever stop crying.

York was taken by surprise by the hug. He liked the feeling though. It wasn't something he ever received much when he was hurt. "T-they had no right to.ever t-touch you. You did nothing wrong. Why couldn't they love you?" Nick was a sobbing mess. "It's okay, I don't really care. Are you alright?" Nick shook his head violently. As the hug tightened, York thought Nick was going to suffocate him.

When he got back to Matt's room he realized he still hadn't gotten the boy's room number. Now that he had his name he could look it up later though. "Where were you?" Matthew asked groggily. "Bathroom." Nick supplied. Matthew didn't believe him, but didn't question it. He did notice the smell of tobacco on his ex, but ignored it.

There was a long silence, but it wasn't awkward. Nick decided to take Matthew's temperature and get him readjusted. The bruises died down in color a bit. Matthew brushed his fingers through Nick's hair, pushing it away from his face. "Hi." He said nervously. "Hi." Matthew laughed back. Nick backed away slightly, "I'm sorry." He muttered, tidying up the room a bit. Matthew watched, curiously as the younger boy took care of everything.

"I'm not trying to get you back." He promised. Nick took a deep breath. "Me either. I just want you to get better and get back to... uh... to..."

"Prison? Yeah I know." Matthew chuckled sadly.

They both were staring quietly, "I still love you, okay!?" Nick blurted out.
