Of all the days, it just had to be today that she was not having the best results with her wardrobe. The clothes that had been previously selected for the BET awards red carpet just weren't working out the way she had imagined. "So, do you have a plan on what to do with this dilemma we have here Normani?" Her stylist on most days brimming with ideas and suggestions on how to avoid a wardrobe malfunction looked at a loss at what to do next and asked glancing her way as they both went through the remaining outfits sent over for alternate choices. She closed her eyes and momentary felt transported to a prior similar incident, in one of her early childhood dance competition and beauty pageant combinations. She recalled her grandma's words of wisdom stating that at times, simplicity was the way to go about it in a tricky wardrobe situation. Looking at the selection on hand, she eyed a simple black skirt and top combination that gave a sort of the late Aliyah meets Mariah Carey vibe. Since both were favorite artists of hers, a decision was made to wear that and make the make-up and shoes the flashier part of the ensemble.

The previous week she had gotten the chance of a lifetime presenting an award to Janet Jackson during the radio music awards and was feeling the 90's to early 2000's vibes in her wardrobe choices recently. Post the Billboard award show the social media pages had been in a frenzy with compliments on the performance Khalid and she had displayed and the questions on the next music and album release flowed in endlessly, the number of times she had to remain mum about the plans were too many to count or keep track of. The continued success of Love Lies on the charts kept the motivation to continue going to the studio and recording more song options for the album or even the follow up album steady.

Exhausted and bored was how she would describe herself on a random Saturday after putting in some hours at the studio and so she decided to check in on one of her friends Justine Skye to see if she had any plans for the day. She picked up on the second ring and laughed through the phone saying, "you must really be telepathic or something because I was just thinking about calling you to see if you busy or wanted to do something together." It had been a month since the award performance and her studio recording time was consuming to say the least, but she was indeed loving every minute of it as it was what she loved and enjoyed doing, this was her niche in life and had also discovered imagining what each live performance for every song would look like was very addictive. Song writing was something she was slowly getting a handle on, working with different artists to see how a potential collaboration would sound like was very exciting as well. "How about we catch a movie and some lunch?" Justine suggested, she was okay with the idea and called her best friend to join to them.

Lunch with the girls was always a fun event. Being a pescatarian limited some of the meat choices but amplified the salad topping choices for selection. After ordering their meal and sitting down to a delightful conversation over the meal, the topic crossed into dating. Whenever, this topic came up, she managed to avoid most questions on who the current crush she had was and if there was any new guy attempting to ask her out on a date. However, today was just not one of the regular days and Justine was almost bursting with excitement to share her good news of fortune that she had meet the potential "It" guy. She giggled over the information she had on him and their first few dates that had gone really well. As a matter of fact, she was meeting him this evening after our hang out time. Normani was genuinely pleased for her and told her she should have fun and keep it light until ready for the heavier stuff, including with the unending questions, which she had to admit her friend was famous for in their group, as the girl with the most questions asked in sequence in under a minute. Justine then turned to look at Normani closely and said, "Well, enough about me, what about you? I heard over the grapevine that Austin Malone had tried to communicate with you. Do you still harbor any sort of feelings towards him?" Normani may have looked a little stunned because Justine's facial expression changed from curiosity to concern, Normani responded with a confirmation of no new or lingering feelings towards the guy, as a matter of fact the thought itself was worrisome. "Justine girl, you're aware that he dated one of my band sisters for a minute there, why would I even consider him as any kind of potential suitor. Besides he's no longer my type." Both Justine and her best friend proceeded to laugh in relief at that revelation.
