Later that day, Normani made her way to the store to pick up some groceries in preparation for her dad and grandma's arrival the next day. She had completed a few more records today to free up time to spend with them as they were arriving on an early evening flight. Once at the house, she took a long bath to unwind and listened to some classical music while drinking a glass of water. It crossed her mind that she had yet to call Jin back as promised. It was almost ten in the evening, she was not sure if it could be considered a decent time to call him and decided to wait to call the next day. Just as she made the decision to forgo the call, she receives a text message from him asking if she was already asleep of if she was able to talk. Normani responded in the affirmative and answered the call on the second ring from him. He asked about her day and she asked about his day as well to which he expressed his love for his American mama, Normani wondered who he was referring to in puzzlement, to which he responded, "Why, our mother of course Normani." Her confusion in the response must have amused him when she asked, "Our mother, I am not sure who you are referring to, is it Khalid's mother, my mother or your mother in Korea oppa?" He then clarified that it was her mother whom he had spent the day with, cooked Gumbo for and had just returned from the mall with after shopping together. He then proceeded to brag about how much she loved him, that it had to be his world-wide cutie guy look that had charmed their mother into buying lots of things to take back with him to South Korea. Normani listened in astonishment to his report about all the bonding he had had with her mother during the day.

The conversation then turned more serious as he asked about a communication plan for their Korean lessons once he returned to Korea given the time differences and our busy schedules. Normani proposed perhaps using a one day per week skype call to work on the lessons, he mentioned that may not work if the day selected would fall on an event date or something happening to change the plan for one of them, he suggested keeping at least three days of the week open for lessons to continue and more could be added as needed, an agreement could be reached it by both of them. It sounded like a good plan, and so she agreed to it. He then asked about her previous dating experience out of the blue, the question caught her off guard and she found herself responding automatically that she had dated a couple of guys when she was younger but the last one was three years ago, nothing serious either time. She caught herself at the end and asked why he needed this information. He responded, "I just want to get to know you a little better, is that not okay?" Normani was not sure how to answer his question and instead asked him about his dating experience and whether it was true that most young people like himself held out for marriage to be intimate with their partners. He asked where she had gotten this information from and laughed stating that may have been the case in the past but now the youth and young adults were different. As far as relationships go he had had three previous relationships but only two had been serious.

Then he asked about the age she would see herself settling down to which she responded with not being sure but added twenty-five sounded like an ideal age for it. "So, what you are saying is that you would be ready to get married as soon as I am done with my military service?" He laughingly asked. Considering it a joke she responded, "Not your military service oppa, but my career hopefully taking off and getting to a stable time, that's all." He then asked how many children she would like to have. Normani had thought and discussed this subject before with her sisters in Fifth Harmony but had not put much thought to it recently, so she said almost flippantly, "Not sure, maybe two or three, who knows, I might change my mind after the first two." Did the genders of the children matter he proceeded to ask to which Normani responded saying, "No, just as long as they are healthy and with no debilitating medical conditions, I would be grateful." After a long pause he stated, "I think you would make a great wife and mother Normani." Not knowing how to respond to this statement with anything else she simply said, "Thank you Oppa." Food, career goals and pets became the next topic they discussed and before long her phone began beeping, indicating the need to recharge the battery, in mild shock Normani also noted the time to be almost midnight. She said the time out loud and he laughed at how late it was, they had spoken for close to two hours. They both promised to complete the conversation over lunch the next day and turned in for the night.
