Alex had made it abundantly clear after he had escorted me back to my house last night that I needed to see him today. What could possibly be so important that he reinforced the point at least twenty times? I had never seen Alex so urgent.
So there I was, walking along Alex's street in a pair of white trainers, denim jeans, a tight black oasis shirt and a black choker - an accessory I had acquired whilst in London as I seemingly saw more and more people wearing them everyday I had stayed in the capital.
My knuckles rasped against the warm wood of Alex's front door. I stood waiting and looked down at myself, readjusting my shirt. I smiled down at the ground as I thought about him when the door opened.
"Ohhhhh Charlotte! It's so good to see you again darling!" Penny Turner beamed at me.
I couldn't help but grin at her. It seems the whole Turner family had this effect on me. "It's good to see you again too Mrs Turner." I spoke quietly.
"Come In darling, I know Alex is excited to see you. He's got a surprise and I think you might like it." She smirked slightly and held the door further open to let me in. Once inside I slipped off my shoes by the door and stood around not knowing what to do or where to go.
"So how was London, pet?"
"It was wonderful thanks. It was really...lovely to see my parents again." I mumbled quietly and decided to sit down on the bottom step of the stairs, smiling up at Penny.
"Awwww that's sweet. Did you visit any of the monuments? Big Ben? T' eye?" She leant against the banister with a smile.
"Yeah I went to quite a few actually. I felt more like a tourist than an actual Londoner, considering I spent fifteen years growing up there." I giggled slightly which made Penny laugh and shake her head.
"Mum! Do you know when she's coming?" I heard Alex's voice boom from upstairs.
Penny flashed me a quick grin before calling back. "What?"
"I said! Do you know when she's coming?"
"I can't hear you sweetheart!" Penny cupped her mouth and shouted up the stairs.
A loud groan could be heard from upstairs followed by a bang and then loud footsteps.
"I SAID, IS SH-"
I turned around to see Alex staring straight at me, wearing less than he probably should have been on a Monday morning. He had on a pair of shorts. Only.
"Hi Alex." I said quietly with a small smile.
I watched as his face quickly became red as he struggled to find a response. "Oh uh... hi...Charlotte."
I nodded somewhat awkwardly. "Hi Alex." I repeated quietly.
"Well I've got to to do some gardening." Penny sent me a sly wink as she walked away leaving me and Alex on the stairs.
I decided to take the reigns of the situation seeing as Alex was utterly hopeless. "Thanks for yesterday Al." I smiled as I stood up.
Alex seemed to regain a bit of confidence from this as he smiled proudly, walking down the stairs to me. "You're welcome. I was actually waiting there for around an hour hoping I wouldn't miss it."
I giggled quietly and as he reached me I kissed his cheek. "My knight in shining armour."
This produced a laugh from Alex who took my hand and lead me into the garage. "Alright darlin' just sit right there." He pointed at a red beanbag on the floor that I hadn't noticed before. I gladly took a seat and watched as Alex fiddled with a boombox on the opposite end of the garage. Crackling quickly filled the room as Alex rushed over to me and sat down. Then his voice came through the speakers.
"I bet you look good on the dancefl-" The tape cut off halfway through the last word and instead switched to a different recording.
I spent the next three minutes marvelling at every sound that came out of the speakers of the boombox. When the song drew to an end I spoke.
"That was fucking amazing."
"Was it?"
I stood up and grinned at Alex. "That was so good!"
Alex quickly got to his feet as well with a half smile tugging at the right side of his face. "Seriously?"
Sighed loudly and rolled my eyes before wrapping my arms around Alex's neck and kissing him deeply. His arms snaked around me as he pulled me into him. We lost ourselves in each other as quiet whimpers and moans escaped both of us.
Eventually, I had to catch a breath so I placed my hands on Alex's chest and pushed myself away gently. I smirked up at Alex and licked my lips before winking at him.
"Is that you trying to be sexy?" I could tell he was holding back a laugh.
"Oh fuck off Alex." I sighed with a small smile making Alex erupt into a loud belly laugh.
