Kali's POV

When Jerome told me to get under the table I was scared to death. and when he told us he loved us I really started cutting up I was crying hysterically. when the man came in he called for Jerome I covered JJ mouth to keep him from hollering. then I heard gunshots I instantly thought the worst. as the gunshots went on JJ became harder to hold down he demanded he go save his daddy.

"baby calm down you have to stay with me until this stops I can't have you getting hurt you'll make mommy hurt and cry stop please JJ" I cried too him holding him close to my chest.

"NO! MOMMY THAT'S MY DADDY I'M BIG BOY" he kicked out of my arms and ran across the resturant as I tried to run after I felt a sharp pierce through my body.

All I remember was Jerome Just snatching JJ behind the booth then I blacked out.

Jerome's POV

I snatched JJ by his little chest.

"how you get over here I told you to stay with momma!"

"no I help you daddy I'm big boy!"

"NO YOU LISTEN TO ME IT'S MY JOB TO PROTECT YOU! DON'T YOU EVER LEAVE YOUR MOMMY TO HELP ME YOU UNDERSTAND ME BOY!" I yelled I think I frightened him too much because he backed away I pulled him to my chest. I couldn't shoot back with him in my arms I don't wanna show him this life but I sure wasn't gonna get punked out in front of him either.

"where's mommy Is she still under the table?"

"I don't know"

Riko should be here soon I send him a text he know what's up already.

"JEROME! JEROME! COME OUT!" the man yelled out again for me

"WHAT HE NEED TO COME OUT FOR YOU CAN'T CHEAT THIS HIDE AND GO SEEK MUTHAFUCKA!" Riko dumb ass.

"SHUT UP PUNK BEFORE I KILL YOU YOU NOT JEROME!"

"I KNOW BUT THIS BULLET CAN BE ANYBODY YOU WANT IT TO BE!" Riko shot him and the rest of the boys took him to the old trap for later.

"alright let's go before the feds come!"  Riko yelled

"NO WHERE IS MY BABY! KALI! KALI! KALI!" She wasn't responding I ran back to the table where we was at and she was on the ground surrounded in her own blood.

"NO baby get up! get up stop playing!" I cried holding her limp body in my arms

"COME ON I HEAR SIRENS GRAB HER CARRY HER TO BECKY LETS GO!" Riko helped me carry her to the car because I was a mess. if she don't make it I don't know what imma do. we got in the truck and sped off before the cops got there.

"HURRY UP DRIVE FASTER DAMN!" I yelled at Mike driving us to the hospital.

"Donna taking JJ to her house so he can play with all the kids get his mind off of y'all." Riko told me  trying to ease my mind. we pulled up to the hospital 15 minutes later.

"AYE MY GIRLFRIEND JUST GOT SHOT! SHE NOT BREATHING! HELP ME PLEASE! PLEASE! I'M BEGGING YOU! PLEASE!" I broke down again thinking about Kali not breathing tore me up I haven't been like this since Eric passed.

"we will do the best we can but you can't come back here" the nurse told me as they wheeled Kali down the hall behind the doors.

"jerome go home shower and rest you look beat down bad and get out these clothes blood all over you."

"NO im not leave here without Kali don't ask me again okay!" I snapped on him.

"alright man imma call someone to bring you some fresh clothes and you change."

" okay. sorry"

"naw I understand that's your woman I don't know what I'll do if that was Ashley I know we fight alot but I love that girl to death. imma stay with you cause I know if it was the other way around you wouldn't leave me man we family" I stared at him

"I appreciate it man" I dapped him up.

we stayed up at the emergency waiting room for 7 hours before the doctor came.

"family of Kali Thomas?"

"that's us" I tapped Riko he had fallen asleep.

"okay I'm sorry to inform that Kali Thomas -"
