Disclaimer: This story contains a huge, completly fictitious war. As a result some countries and groups of people will be the "bad guys". Any countries mentioned are done so purely because it is convenient for location puropses and any opinions raised about them and differing groups of people by the characters do not reflect my own. I do not mean to offend anyone with what I write and I apologise if this happens, but this story will reflect the harsh attitudes people sometimes have of invading countries and people after a war. I'm writing to reflect life and will not soften this aspect of the story so that people do not get offended. It would be self-defeating. If you do not think you can handle that content please do not read any further. Thank you.
Warning: This story may contain triggers. The issue of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is explored and one of the main characters (Mircea) suffers with it. I have not done any indepth research into the condition as this is only a second draft and would have been something I would have done next (more details below). As a result the scenes where PTSD is shown may not be medically accurate. If anyone comments that something is innacurate I will, when I have time, go back and correct it.
Rating: At the moment it is [G] General, but as I upload chapters that may go up to [PG] Parental Guidence Suggested. This isn't a story for little kids, but I thought I should warn you anyway.
This is something I wrote about a year ago. It's a second draft of a story, but I'm not sure I'm going to take it any further, but I thought I'd share it with you. I do like the story, but continuing it and publishing it would probably mean writing a series and I don't want to write a series which takes place in a country I've never been to before (should have thought about that before I wrote this one but... Carpe diem) Anyway, please read and comment :D Thankies!
Note: though it's set in 2043, the technological advances are going to be quite subtle, no having to work your head around Star Trek-esque tech-speak here!

Chapter 1
"The conflict between Romania and Bulgaria which initially began in two thousand and ten with a small, two day invasion into Romanian lands, took ten years to resolve because of bickering, lack of trust and demand for compensation," my history professor said and paused a while to let it all sink in, his voice resonating through his office. "The final resolution only happened in twenty twenty seven and there was always bad blood between the two countries. Five years later Bulgaria invaded again, a separatist group who didn't recognise the government's authority. It was a bloody six month long conflict in which the separatists also took control of a few cities Bulgaria.
"After the conflict ended thanks to the Bulgarian... field marshal I guess was his equivalent rank, a new leader was elected, but he was a secret member of the separatist group and had her eyes set on more than just Romania. They let the conflict settle, but had secret meetings with her military generals, admirals and field marshals. The ones who sided with her anyway.
"Ten years later once they had a resistance and their plans in place, on the twenty fifth of December, twenty-thirty-four, they began the invasion. The now back up to strength, separatists had people in the army forcing co-operation and exerting control even in Bulgaria. They did this in secret just a day before the war began.
"They waited until dark descended and moved to the Romanian boarders. They had help from religious extremists from all over the world. The separatists told them that the ultimate goal was Russia and from there, together, they would take on the west - main land Europe, shortly there after the UK and then the US.
