" Bee where's the eyeliner !?"" Top shelf behind the bottle of toner."
" Thanks !"
Today was the day ! Halloween was here complete with, ominous rain clouds, windy weather, and kids patrolling the streets in there costumes.
I stayed home from school today because there was no point in going. No homework was due and all my classes have been going over the same material for the past week.
The after school dance starts at four-thirty sharp and I had already told Charolette I'll be her date so there's no backing out now. Even after she mocked Laurence in front of the popular kids...
" Alright mom and dad I'm out ! See ya later Bee I'll text you !" I said putting up a half heart.
The sky was folded in a swirl of sunset colors while gentle mist walked beside me.
Children with buckets and bags of candy ran past me with their parents dragging feet behind them.
" What a holiday ! Free candy and a nationwide costume party who could hate this ?" I said aloud.
" Ehhh it goes against some people's religion."
I turned around startled by a voice catching up to me.
" Oh, yeah..." I gave off a nervous laugh looking up at the tall stranger jogging towards me.
" Oh you probably don't recognize me without the jacket but I'm Bryan. I play center for the basketball team." He said wiping the sweat from his brow.
" Ohh hey ! I really didn't recognize you without the jacket." I laughed
"So are you headed to the school ?"" You bet, wait don't tell me, are you suppose to be a punk rocker ?" He asked.
" In the flesh ! Something about the nostalgia of early two-thousands rock just called to me, that and the fact it was a last minute costume idea." I said smiling.
I continued walking as he followed next to me.
" So what are you suppose to be ?" I asked.
" I'm going as a Gym trainer my outfit was pretty last minute too. I literally ran home took a shower then just put on my gym clothes and made my way back."
" I'd say same but I didn't go to school today, took a personal." I said.
" We can do that !?"
" Not necessarily but honestly I've gotten to the point where I'm already over having perfect attendance and I'm too fed up to deal with these vermin I have to call classmates."
He laughed putting his hand on my shoulder.
" I grew up with these guys and I feel exactly the same way. Literally everyone has been the same sense elementary, maturity wise that is."
" Really ? And you didn't beg your parents to move ?" I said.
" Ehhh I had hope for them. I mean they are still my childhood friends and we've been through a lot together but I'm just not ready to completely outgrow them yet." I felt the sadness in his voice.
I rubbed his back in a circular motion as we made our way up the school steps.
" Atleast they're still here with you for one more year !" I said trying to empathize with him.
" Yeah there is that atleast."
We walked into gymnasium where rave lights flashed and people in costumes danced horribly to the outdated pop music playing.
" Hassan !"
A blonde girl with a sparkling red jacket, blue jeans and a white graphic T-shirt ran to me.
" Omg ! Is this real eyeliner ? You really dress for the part don't you ?" She said twirling her hair.
" Umm who are you ?" I said looking at her then to Bryan who wore an equally confused look.
She sighed pulling back her hair.
" It's me, Charolette, you're DATE ! You said come as Hannah Montana so I did."" Right, this is my cue to leave. I'll catch you around ?" Bryan asked looking down at me.
" If I don't die of exhaustion first." I said back to him as he laughed and disappeared into the crowd.
" What was that ?" Charolette asked
" What was what ?" I said walking towards the pulled out bleachers.
" You were talking to Bryan ! You know the possibly gay possibly trying to hit on you Bryan ?" She said sitting next to me.
Wait...is that what he was doing ?
