I scoured my pockets for keys but all I fished for was pocket lint and three quarters.
I probably left it in the car along with the magic eight ball.
8:50 ? School ended at 2:45.
I sighed looking up from my phone and at the wooded door. Hopefully Bee made a good excuse for me.
Before I could knock the door opened and my mother was standing there with surprise all over her face.
" Hassan ? You're home earlier than I expected."I looked behind me and into the house before back at her.
" Who are you and what did you do to my strict but fun loving mother ?"She laughed scooting past me.
" Make sure you lock the door and keep it down, your father came home early and is sleeping upstairs, dinner is in the fridge."" Where are you going ?" I asked stepping inside.
" To the outlet, this store I like is having a sale on high end watches and I have to get these before I loose my mind !" She called out from inside the car.
" Alright then bye, love you !" I yelled as she pulled out the drive way and sped off down the street.
I locked the door and took my book bag off slumping to the floor.
" He doesn't like guys huh ?" I said to myself feeling a wave of emotions hit me.
Is this what having a crush is like ? Cause this is painful and I don't wanna do it anymore.
Just then Bee came down the stairs in her lime green robe I got her last year.
" I have some news !"I raised by eyebrows beckoning her to tell me but she caught on to my game.
" What's wrong ? What happened ?" She said standing over me.
" I'm fine..."
" Hassan you're on the floor and you look like you're on the verge of having a level four meltdown. Was it Laurence ?" She asked crossing her feet sitting down.
" Well first off let me just say his brother is actually really sweet, in no way shape or form a killer. But we were all talking in the car and apparently Laurence isn't 'gay or anything'."I said doing air quotes.
" And you believe him ?" She said on the verge of laughing.
I shrugged my shoulders.
" You don't say you like guys but you do, Maybe he's just scared." She said.
" Scared of what ?" I asked lifting my head up.
" Scared that you don't like guys, maybe he actually feels the same way you feel about him."
Her words made me stop think.
Could that really be the case ? Is our story really just setting itself up for a happy ending and a true loves kiss ?
" Bee why are you so smart ?" I asked getting off the floor with a meek smile.
" Ehh, It's kinda my job, I mean who else is gunna take care of you besides I ! The one, the only, Beatrix Jameson." She hopped off the floor and strutted to the stairs.
" Wait Bee ! What were you gunna tell me when you came downstairs ?" I asked halting her.
" Oh right ! So I don't know if you know but Laurence lives like two houses down from us. His sister invited me to a little barbecue they're having tomorrow and they have a pool !"
" Yeah I know, Laurence's brother asked if I wanted to come tomorrow since the weather is suppose to be nice."
" And what did you say ?" She said putting one foot on the stairs.
" I said I'd ask mom and dad."
She gave me an annoyed stare.
" You already know their answer is a yes, you should of just said so."" I was mad at the time !" I said
A door from upstairs burst open making Bee and I flinch.
" Can you guys KEEP IT DOWN !?"
My dad yelled from the dark hallway. The door shut again and bee looked at me.
" I'm gunna text Michelle you're coming with me." She whispered." No ! I-
" You're going to what ? Stay in your room for another boring Saturday alone watching Netflix not doing anything productive ? Or, no sorry, this time you're gunna sulk for the whole weekend just because you have a crush on a straight guy who I'm ninety percent sure is a raging gay under those blue eyes and ripped muscles." Her violent whisper cut me off.
My jaw dropped as she continued to eye me down.
" Now like I said I'm telling her you're coming."
She walked up the stairs swishing her robe as she went.
" And don't think you have a way out of this cause you don't Hassan. I know where your room is."She left me flabbergasted in the living room as her door closed softly from upstairs.
I scoffed to myself picking up my backpack.
If we don't let her become the ruler of this nation then we've definitely failed as a society.
I started laughing to myself.
Leave it to my fourteen year old sister to put me in my place and pull my head out my own ass.
