After a good five minute hug at least they stopped and wiped their tears. Macy smiled a little bit and looked at Jem. Macy's dad looked at the ground. "I don't suppose I have another chance.. Do I? At least until you're 18...?"
"I'll definitely give you another chance.. But things need to change and you need to be home more often without being drunk.""Alright, I understand."
"Thank you."Macy looked at Jem and Jade. She was about to apologize when they both just rushed forward to hug her. "We love you Macy, no matter what you choose. You deserve to have your dad but keep in mind that we'll always have your back if something tends to go wrong."
"I love you guys too."* Two years later *
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Macy, happy birthday to you." A chorus of voices sing.
Macy blew out her candles in front of her dad, Jem and Jade. The last two years were some of the best years of Macy's life. She learned what it was like to have a loving dad. Every once and awhile she would think of before but she'd shake the images out of her mind. If the last two years have shown her anything it's that her dad has changed for the better.
Since Macy turned 18 she is now able to move out. Her dad had reassured her many times that her didn't mind if she lived with him for a few more years but she had said she'd rather live on her own. But she'd make sure to visit him some. She knew she was going to be living with Jem and Jade until graduation and then she would head off to college and come up and visit during breaks.
Macy's life had been rough, but she has made it through. She'll be in college soon and will soon major in being a counselor and helping the kids that got stuck in the situations that she also got stuck in. She didn't want anyone to have to go through that. Macy still has the ever noticeable scar on her arm from when she cut and her dad reopened it, although she'd most likely change the subject if you asked her about it, just don't push the topic.
