Ezra
This case was kicking my ass. I have no idea how to defend a man who is clearly guilty. The thought of this man utterly disgusts me. He was arrested on numerous counts of sexual assault, battery. Yet I have to defend him because this is my job. Don't get me wrong, I love my job, but this case is intolerable. Why did I take this case? Four P.M. rolled around and I logged out of my computer. I grabbed my files and put it in my briefcase before heading out of my office.
"You done for the day, Ezra?" My boss, Kelly, asked from her office. I moved to her office door. Kelly's red hair was curled, and was pushed to one side, flowing over her left shoulder. She was wearing a tight black dress that clung to her curves, and red high heels. She was trying too hard to be sexy.
"Yeah."
"How's that case treating you?" She asked, crossing her legs, she took the pencil she was holding between her teeth, biting the eraser end of the pencil lightly.
"Horribly. I can't wrap my head around it..." I scratched the back of my head.
"I'm sure you'll figure it out... you always do." She smiled. I nodded. "Alright well, you have a wonderful night, Ezra."
"You too, Kelly." I replied before moving away from her office. Kelly was beautiful and all, but definitely not type. She seems nice but she can turn on you very quick. I tend to stay on her good side, but every now and then we butt heads. I got to my car and drove to my condo in the city. I pulled into the parking garage and parked in my usual parking spot and then I took the elevator up to my condo. I unlocked the door and went inside and threw my keys into the bowl I had on the table next to the door of my condo.
"Max!" I called from the door. Max ran to me, wagging his tail. I smiled softly and moved to pet him. He rolled over telling me to rub his belly. "You're such a good boy, Max..." I smiled. He licked my face and I chuckled before standing up and setting my brief case on the kitchen counter. I moved to my bedroom and took off my suit and white dress shirt, and put on gym shorts and a t-shirt. "Ugh... time for the gym..." I put on tennis shoes before heading out and walking to the gym.

Fuck I am exhausted... I'm so hungry... but it's after 8 pm... I'm not supposed to eat after 8... I sigh before going back to my condo and taking a shower. I wash my hair and body before rinsing off and getting out. I dry off with a towel and dry off, and my phone starts ringing."This is Ezra." I answer.
"Why are you always so formal, dude?" Jake asked.
"Because I am."
"Whatever." I could hear it in his tone that he just rolled his eyes. "Anyway, do you wanna come over for a couple beers?"
"Lola gone?" I asked.
"Yeah, she is. Her friend is home but she's pretty quiet and probably won't come outside." He responded.
"Okay. Sure, I'll be over in a few minutes." I reply.
"Perfect, see you when you get here, dude."
"Don't call me-" he hung up before I could finish my sentence. I hated when people called me dude. It makes a person seem vacuous... in my opinion anyway. I got dressed in some casual black cargo shorts and a dark blue shirt. I put on some tennis shoes before heading out to Jake's apartment complex. I walked since it was just a few blocks away. I took the stairs up to his apartment. I saw a girl watering flowers she had out on the patio. She must be Lola's roommate. Her dark chocolate brown hair was pulled up in a messy bun. She was wearing black short shorts and a t-shirt that was raised up so I could see a part of her torso. She had a tattoo on her hip that ended mid thigh. I couldn't see all of it but it looked pretty good. She turned and I could see her face. God she was so beautiful. Her piercing green eyes watching as the water poured into the hanging basket of flowers. She was very beautiful but she's Lola's roommate. With everything that happened between me and Lola, I best leave her alone. I looked away and then I heard a snap and a loud crash and something shattering.
"Fuck!" I heard her yell. I quickly turned around and saw the hanging basket had fallen and busted apart into pieces, making a big mess.
"Nice going." Was the first thing out of my mouth. Her eyes snapped up to me and darkened. She looked pissed. Her face flushed red.
"Thanks, Jackass." She snapped before starting to pick up the pieces of the shattered basket. Jack ass? That's cute.
"Just because you broke your hanging basket doesn't mean you have to be cruel with your words." I replied.
"Just because you have a dick doesn't mean you have to be one." She snapped back before going inside. That mouth of hers... I like it. I knocked on Jake's door. He answered.
"Nice my ass." I replied going inside.
"Hello to you too, Ezra." Jake chuckled. "What happened?"
"Well, your nice girl next door dropped her hanging basket and it busted and went everywhere, and me being an ass, said nice going. Well, she didn't like that, and now she thinks I'm a dick... she called me a jack ass, and a dick actually." I said. Jake chuckled.
"That's funny. I don't think I have ever heard her talk like that before." He moved to the fridge and pulled out two beers.
"Hm. Maybe I just pull out that side of her."
"That's not good." He handed me a beer. "That means your a bad influence..."
"Well, you cant be innocent forever." I said taking a drink. "What's her name?"
"Everly, But she doesn't go by that, she goes by Ever."
"Hm... Everly... wonder if she's anything like Lola."
"She's nothing like Lola. Ever is shy as fuck, but once you break her shell, she will talk nonstop." He took a drink. "Maybe if you break her shell you'll finally get laid again." I punched his shoulder, causing him to laugh. "Hey you've been fucked up after Lola broke up with you for that other guy. You need to move on..." Not a bad idea though... what if I sleep with her to get back at Lola... a one night stand maybe. Sounds perfect.
