Ever

*three weeks later*

"Remember we have that birthday party this weekend, Everly."

"Yes, mother, thank you so much for the reminder.... now I have no excuse to not show." I groaned, rolling to my side.

"Come on, it's your sister's birthday..."

"But mom... she's a total bitch to me... plus she's turning 17, why are you throwing her a party?"

"Because she asked for one."

"I asked for a party and you told me no."

"Times were tough then sweetheart- anyway, I expect you to be at the party..."

"Fine..." I sighed.

"Plus, my coworker has a son I want to introduce you to. Maybe you two will hit it off. I think he's very nice, and he has a steady income."

"Mom, I'm nineteen I don't need to be getting married anytime soon."

"What can I say?! I want grand babies, Everly-" I hung up the phone. Nope. Not having this conversation.

"Coffee?" I saw a text from Ezra. I smiled softly.

"Be there in twenty?" I responded.

"Perfect :)" Ezra replied. I smiled softly and bit my lip. I got up and put on black leggings and a grey spaghetti strap shirt, with a oversized flannel shirt. I went to my bathroom and brushed my curly hair to the best of my ability. Okay, hair tie... hair tie... fuck where are my hair ties?? Did I break them all? Oh my god, I can't go out with this rats nest hair! Oh my fuck... i looked at the time. Ten minutes. There's no time left to go buy any more... I guess I'll have to tame my hair. I did what I could before putting some perfume on. I grabbed my laptop bag before putting on my brown boots that went up to my knees before heading out to the coffee shop. I got there and Ezra was already ordering. I walked up to him and poked his sides. He jumped slightly and looked to me. He smiled. "Hey."

"Hey, why are you so dressed up?" He was wearing a blue suit.

"Well, my firm requires me to wear a suit to work." He replied. I nodded. "You look very casual as always."

"Because this is my office, and they don't give a fuck what I wear, Mr. Bossman." I smirked. He chuckled slightly. I ordered the usual, which was just a mocha mint latte.

"So how's work going for you?" He asked.

"Good, I finished a boring ass article so today I get to write my novel." I replied. The waitress came by and gave us our coffees. "Thank you." I rushed as she walked away. "You?"

"Work still sucks ass, I can't defend the piece of shit man I am supposed to defend..."

"Well maybe play the family card? To loosen his time?" I asked taking a sip of my latte.

"That's not a bad idea..." He scratched the back of his head.

"I don't know... I'm not a... lawyer person..." i giggled. He smiled softly.

"You're adorable."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome." He smiled softly. I smiled and rested her head on my shoulder. His phone started ringing. He declined it immediately which made me smile slightly. "What?"

"Nothing." I smiled and rested my head against my arm.

"Nothing?"

"Yeah." I replied smiling softly. His phone started ringing again. He sighed. "Go ahead, take it." I said. He nodded and looked at his phone. He sighed and answered.
