Ezra

I hadn't really been able to sleep since I saw how Everly acted with Liv. It amazed me how good she was with kids, and I found it very... attractive for some reason. Everly has a way of getting in my head and that rendered her unforgettable. The moment I saw her at Rebecca's party, something switched in me. She was absolutely gorgeous, with her messy curled hair. She always wore her hair up so it was refreshing to see her trying something new. I wonder what she's doing right now... why hasn't she called me yet? It's been a week for God's sake! God this girl is going to be the end of me, and I'm not sure if I'm mad at that fact.

"Ezra?" Rebecca waved her hand in front of my face. "You okay?" I had completely forgotten that I was having lunch with Rebecca. I had zoned off, once again.

"I'm fine, I was just thinking." I replied twirling my fork in my untouched quinoa salad, Rebecca had ordered for me. I had showed up late because I had spaced off at work and didn't realize the time, courtesy of Everly being stuck in my head.

"About...?" She asked curiously. Truthfully, I don't really know what Rebecca is to me. She seems to like me more than as a friend but I don't know if I reciprocate those feelings... she's almost too controlling for me, seeing as she is trying to enforce her vegetarian lifestyle upon me.

"I'm thinking about your sister, truthfully." I admitted. She frowned.

"She's not my sister." She took a drink of her water. "Why are you thinking of her?" Her voice emphasizing the last word.

"She infatuates me..." I replied.

"But she's so boring! How does she infatuate you?!" She was getting upset. Well. Fuck.

"You're clearly getting upset, would you rather talk about something else-"

"Yes! I can't believe your talking about my bloody step sister like that! Especially in front of me no how! God, Ezra!" She pouted. She's a real basket case sometimes.

"My apologies, Becca." She had insisted I called her something other than her name, so I made sure I did. Unlike Everly, whom I enjoyed getting a reaction out of, Rebecca was... too much. She smiled.

"Apology accepted."

*hours later*

10:23 P.M.

I walked out of my bathroom, towel around my waist, right as my phone started ringing. It was a bit late to be calling at this hour... I moved to pick up the phone. Everly's name and picture showed on my phone. A smile showed on my face.

"Well if it isn't Miss Everly, what brings you to call me so late?" I asked and bit my lip. I heard her giggle on her side which made me smile.

"Well I apparently cause a reaction out of you when I don't call, Mr. Bossman." She sounded amused. "Rebecca called me." She elaborated. Well. This will be an interesting conversation.

"Ah, what did she say?"

"She was yelling at me, stealing your attention from her. Then ranting to me about how she doesn't know why you're interested in me since I am so boring and apparently don't do shit." She chuckled slightly.

"I'm sorry..." I pinched my lip between my thumb and index finger.

"No I thought it was entertaining, honestly. Listening to her not get her way for once. It's intriguing." She admitted. I didn't know how to respond. As I searched for words she started talking again, "So," she started. "why have I got your attention, Mr. Bossman? Am I in trouble?" She flirted, giggling the last bit. I couldn't help but laugh as well. She was so cute...

"I'm infatuated by you, Everly." I admitted. "You're... like a breath of fresh air to me..." she was silent. Shit. Did I scare her? "Listen if I Scared-"

"I just don't know how to reply..." she laughed slightly. "Is this a friendly thing...?" She asked.

"Gosh, Everly, you're delightfully oblivious..." I smiled softly. "I like you."

"As in... like me... like me...?" What a childish way to ask... I like it.

"Yes, Everly. I like you like you." I bit my lip.

"Oh." She thought for a second. "Okay.... cool." She giggled to herself slightly.

"I assume your feelings aren't reciprocated?" I hoped they were.

"I don't know..." she sighed. "I want you, but like... Loler..."

"Lola shouldn't have a say in whether you follow your heart or not, Everly." I said.

"Let me think about this okay?" She asked.

"Okay." I replied. "Can we get coffee tomorrow morning?"

"I'm gonna need more time than that-"

"I just want to see you Everly... as much as I love hearing your voice over the phone, is doesn't do me any justice."

"Okay. What time?"

"Say... I'll pick you up at 8...?" I replied.

"Sure..." she said. I smiled.

"Perfect. I'll see you tomorrow morning, Miss Everly."  I laughed.

"See you tomorrow, Mr. Bossman." She giggled.

"Goodnight, Everly."

"Goodnight, Ezra."
