Oh boy! Being part of the Curtis gang was an adventure every day, especially when you are friends with the one and only Sodapop Curtis and Johnny Cade. At the moment Yanelie had been hanging out with Soda at the Curtis house, they have been talking about Yanelie's new found crush Johnny Cade, and Soda was telling her the right things to say to Johnny, since we'll Soda is a guy and knows what gets a guy blushing. Speaking on Johnnycake, he walked in the house looking disappointed.
"Johnnycakes. What's wrong" Sodapop asked.
"Nothing" Johnny said walking out.
Yanelie had followed Johnny out of the house knowing something was wrong. Following him to the lot, she sat next to him putting a hand on his shoulder. He jumped up from where he was sitting.
"John-" Y/n began but was cut off.
"I'm sorry. It's just that y'all are so close" Johnny interrupted with sadness.
"Soda and I are just friends. Is that wrong? Are you ok?" She asked.
"No it's not, your friends. I'm fine, just leave me alone" Johnny snapped leaving his usual calm and gentle self.
Before she left the fight had gotten a little bigger with them both yelling. So Yanelie walked away to seek advice from Soda. After talking for a while he had told her to stay for dinner and she agreed, they both had no idea that Johnny was coming over. Throughout dinner, it was awkward the Curtis brothers didn't even know what to do, they were shocked, Yanelie and Johnny had always talked to each other, both of them didn't know how to act around eachother right now because of that fight.
Later on when Yanelie had went home she had laid in her bed letting the tears come to her brown eye as questions came though her head. Why won't he tell me? Did this ruin our friendship? What about my crush on him, will my heart still skip beats when I'm around him? She most definitely did not want him angry with her. Getting up, she put her leather jacket on and went for a walk, to get some fresh air and think things through. Making her way to the lot she heard the familiar sobs of the boy she has fallen for, worried she ran to him.
"Johnny. What's wrong?" She asked with all the gentleness but gasped when he looked up at her with a fresh bruises in his handsome face.
"M-my parents, b-beating me" he mumbled looking back down.
"Johnnycakes" Yanelie soothed as she sat down bringing him into a warming hug.
They had sat like this for a while, with Johnny in her arms as she tried her best to comfort the shaking boy. During this time they had both apologized for the words they had said to eachother during the fight.
" The reason I got mad was because I like you and got jealous of you and Soda be so close" Johnny spoke after a while "and when I say 'I like you' I mean more than friends. I want to date you and call you mine".
"I like you too. I also want to date you and call you mine" Yanelie smiled causing Johnny to sit up and smile too.
They didn't have to ask of they were dating now, they just assumed from what they both confessed. Now Johnny had Yanelie in his arms as he ran his fingers though her brown hair. The new found couple had fallen asleep together in an loving embracing under the starts. And it definitely won't be their only night in an embrace under the stars.
