"with what corbyn? is everything okay?" logan spoke frantically into the phone.
"kind of. we're at the hospital and we need to you sign release papers." i spoke back. i could hear him sigh in relief over the line.
"yeah i'll be there. text me the address." he said much quieter than before.
"okay thanks." i responded. he murmured a 'yup' before the line went dead. i smiled as i texted him the hospital address before sliding my phone into my back pocket. i got up and walked back into the warm building. i have a quick smile to the lady behind the desk before slipping back past the doors and down the hall to daniels room.
i knocked once before opening the door to reveal the familiar smiling daniel. i smiled in return as i noticed jack siting by daniels bed. i shut the door and walked over to the two.
"logan's coming to sign the release forms and then we can go home." i finally spoke. they both nodded.
"how's megan feeling? have they let her out yet?" daniel asked, oblivious as he looked down at his slightly bruised hands. i looked at jack angrily.
'i couldn't' he mouthed at me. i shook my head and looked back to daniel.
"she hasn't woken up yet." i spoke as daniel snapped his head up.
"what?! will she she okay?!" he spoke quite loudly. the monitor started to quietly beep.
"in time. she's starting to fall into a coma." i spoke just above a whisper.
"no!" daniel screamed as he started to rip off the tubes attached to his arms, wanting to get out. the machine beside him started to beep louder. tears slipped past his eyes as he struggles against jack, who was pushing him down and telling him to calm down. tears also fell past jacks eyes as he watched his best friend in pain. i looked down at daniel just as he gave up and started to sob. the brunette familiar nurse rushed into the room in panic. she came over to daniel to try and calm him down.
"mr.seavey you're going to have to calm down." she spoke gently. daniel nodded through his, now quieter, sobs as the nurse put the tubes into the machine. the beeping stopped as daniels heart rate lowered. jack sat back down after wiping his own tears, his hand still holding daniels. the nurse finished speaking to daniel and helped him get up. she told him to walk around the room a little. he obeyed before walking back over to her. she nodded and looked at me.
"he can leave once the adult signs the release forms. if he has any pains i recommend some pain reliever, and if it's anything serious bring him back." she smiled at me. i nodded as she walked me out of the small room. jack helped daniel out behind us and shut the door. jack took daniel back into the waiting room to sit down as the nurse led me back to jonah's room.
"same thing goes for jonah as daniel, but be carful of jonah's ribs. keep him well rested for the next couple of days and don't do anything that could hurt him again." she spoke as we stood outside of the door. i nodded as i opened the door, letting her in first. she smiled and walked through, myself soon following. as i let the door close behind me, i walked up to jonahs bed where everyone stood and sat around.
quickly smiling at zach and alex next to each other, with zach's arm around his girlfriend as she snuggled into his chest. i go and stand next to christina, who immediately and casually latches onto my arm as i pull her into my chest. she lets go and hovers next to me. i kiss the top of her head before going to stand next to jonah. he smiled at me as i grab his empty hand as i did before. his grip on my hand felt weaker than normal as i sat down. i finally looked at him as we made eye contact. he wore half smile as he tried to convince me that he wasn't breaking. the nurse detached the tubes attached to jonah's arm and gave me one last look as she walked out the door.
"we'll meet you guys in the waiting room. daniel and jack are already there." i said to christina, zach and alex. they all nod and soon slip past the door. once the door is shut, i helped jonah try and sit on the edge of the bed as he groaned in pain. he finally did it as i sat down next to him.
"jo i have to tell you something." i said quietly. he looked over to me as he moved his eyebrows in worry.
"it's megan." i said slowly, not wanting to let the words fall out of my mouth. i could feel him tense up next to me.
"what's wrong? is she okay?!" he said in anger as he tried to stand up. failing, he sat back down in obvious pain.
"she will be, but the doctors say she could start falling into a coma." i said letting a single tear fall from my eyes. i couldn't tear my eyes from the look on his face. every emotion he wore in the past second was all gone. his face fell as his eyes became glazed in tears. they fell as he became silent.
"what do you mean 'falling' into a coma?" he spoke after seconds.
"i'm not really sure. i guess she isn't in one yet. maybe she'll pull through." i spoke with hope.
"yeah maybe." he whispered.
"i can't loose her corbyn." he spoke again. i looked at him as he slouched.
"i know jo." i responded. he looked down at his feet taking deep breaths.
"ready?" i spoke after i have him a minute of silence. he nodded as he wrapped his arm over my shoulder. i helped him up, and from there he was okay to walk.
we slowly walked down the hall and into the waiting room, where everyone smiled at us. daniel walked over to jonah as they both embraced each other in a hug, both crying. i walked over to christina as she snuggled into my chest once more, letting the two hug. they finally let go as a ring came from the door. the door slowly swung open as logan walked in. i slowly got up and walked over to him. we quickly hugged as he gave me that 'what happened' look.
"i'll explain later." i said quietly so only he could here. we walked over to the desk as he nodded. the nurse soon gave logan all the paperwork he needed to sign, as i filled out the insurance form.
"all right. you guys are all set." she said with a smile.
"remember everything i said corbyn." she added as i nodded.
"what are visiting times? so we can come and see megan." i spoke as logan walked over to everyone else. i glanced over to them as zach introduced logan to his girlfriend.
"visiting hours vary on the patient. one person can stay until around 1 am if necessary, but tradiational times are from 10 am to 7 pm." she spoke as she wrote everything down on a sticky note. she handed it to me as i took everything in.
"and here's the medication instructions for the two boys." she said as she handed me another sticky note. i smiled and thanked her before walking back over to my friends. i repeated the visiting hours to them as they looked at the one sticky note.
"can i go and see her?" jonah asked. i shrugged as he walked over to the nurse and started talking. i returned my focus to the rest of the group.
"let's go guys. i'll drive you home." logan said as he looked at me. i looked back to jonah who opened the door and walked down the hall.
"i'll stay for jo." i said as jack, zach, alex, and christina followed logan out the main door. daniel stayed where he was standing as i looked at him confused.
"why does he want to be the first to see her?" daniel spat, once everyone was out the door, his voice clearly full of anger and jealousy.
"because he wants to see her." i said blankly.
"i want to see her." he spoke much calmer as we sat back down.
"i know, but only one person can go since it's after 7." i responded. he nodded angrily as he got up and walked over to the nurse.
"i'm sorry daniel but only one person at a time." the nurse spoke gently at the angry boy. daniel huffed and walked back over to the chairs and sat back down next to me.
"can i use your phone. mine broke in the crash." he spoke after minutes. i nodded and handed him my unlocked phone. he clicked on the uber app and ordered an uber before handing me my phone.
"be careful and go to bed when you get home. don't worry about megan. i'll be home soon after 1." i spoke as he started to stand up. he nodded and walked out the door. i made myself comfortable as i sat and closed my eyes, trying not to think about today, and slowly fell asleep.
