"i really shouldn't stay much longer. this isn't my home." megan said, tucking a piece of her perfect hair behind her small ears. she shook her head as she picked up her clutch i had carried in and set on the counter.
"alex can stay. i should really go." she said shaking her head again.
"no. you can stay." i said gently grabbing her wrist as she smiled.
"please stay." i whispered, moving closer to her. she giggled softly as she nodded.
"fine but it's on you." she laughed. raising my hands above my head, i nodded as we walked into the living room to join everyone else.
mostly everyone was sleeping with another person when we walked in. zach laid on the loveseat, with his girlfriend asleep on his lap. the small girl had her legs over zach's lap and her arms around his neck as he effortlessly held her on his lap. smiling at the two i took a seat on the couch as megan sat next to me, almost immediately taking her place attached to my side. chuckling to myself, i draped my arm over her shoulders as she tucked her head into my neck. letting out a warm breath onto my neck, she turned her head to look up at me.
"why are things like this now?" she whispered causing me to look down to meet her gorgeous blue eyes.
"what do you mean?" i questioned as i moved my arm to caress her shoulder.
"we've only known each other for just about a month." she started, her eyes never leaving mine.
"we rest like this." she said motioning to our position.
"you let me spend the night and we spend like all day together with the boys." she hummed, letting out another breath. i just kept watching her and listening.
"what did i do to deserve this?" she finished, closing her plump and slightly chapped lips.
"you didn't do anything. you were just there. being there gave us the opportunity to know you. now we know this amazingly talented and gorgeous girl. it doesn't matter that we've only known you for a month. you're something different." i finished with a chuckle. she let out a small laugh as a tear slipped past her glossy eyes and down her rosy cheeks. she quickly raised her sleeve-covered hand and wiped it away. her small hands are always covered by a hoodie or long sleeve shirt.
"you know, driving to the concert i was hopping and praying that you'd at least say hello to me. or god forbid an 'i love you too'. now you go and say something like this." she smiled as her hand movements caused her messy bun to bounce.
"i was always in your lane." she laughed, tucking her head back into my cold neck. a small smile tugged at my lips from her words.
moments went by in silence before i heard the familiar soft snores from megan. the, also familiar, smile never left my lips. i don't know when i fell asleep, but i did. and she was there sleeping beside me, enjoying my presence.
i woke up to, sadly, once more, the familiar shushes of my friends and the sounds of their flashes. groaning, i opened my eyes to see them all hurry away from my view. after i let out a small chuckle, i looked down to see the stunning lady beside me. she had slept the entire night in a messy bun and still managed to look beautiful. not wanting to wake her, i used my other arm, that wasn't around the small girl, to go on my phone.
"god damnit zach." i cursed after looking through my instagram feed. the spawn of satan himself had posted a picture of me and megan sleeping on his account. the picture was of course adorable, but i wasn't sure how megan would react. she had once told me that she would never want her relationship with anyone to be public. she likes to have that part of her life to herself. this would ruin it all. all of the fans had commented on zach's posts. i couldn't help but smile at the cute comments about us, but i couldn't help but frown and get angry at the hate that has also shown up. horrible things were being said about megan. people were saying disgusting things about how she doesn't deserve me, or how ugly she is. i couldn't seem to understand where the comments about her appearance had come from. the picture made her look even more perfect that she already was. zach always was a god at simple editing. sighing, i set my phone down on the arm of the couch before looking back down to megan. another familiar smile tugged at her lips as she smiled up at me. her eyes were glowing in the morning light as she examined my expression.
"why so sad jo?" she said resting her small hand on the side of my face for a moment.
"zach posted a picture of us sleeping on instagram. the comments are brutal, so please don't look at them." i said trying to read her face as her iconic smile fell from her expression in seconds.
"h-he did wh-hat." she stuttered standing up from the couch immediately. throwing her hands in her already messy hair, she paced around the room.
"what are we going to do? i told you i don't like my private life being public." she said angrily and upset.
"i know and i'm sorry. everything will be okay." i said moving towards her and resting my hands on her shoulders. she softened at my touch and walked into my chest as i wrapped my arms around her small back.
"everything will be okay." i repeated as her back moved ever so slightly as she let out a small cry into my chest.
