The buzz in Fairy Tail High School was electric. Rumours of a new girl spread through the school like wildfire, never ceasing to stop.

Boys couldn't seem to hold in their excitement of having a cute girl, and girls were desperate to boost up their popularity by having another girl in their clique.

So when a red haired, fierce young student entered the open mouths of the school, the surprise and shock didn't calm for days.

When I pushed open the doors of my new school, the whole world seemed to go deathly quiet. It wasn't what I'd anticipated-there was no girl to come to my side, no happy chatter. I opened my mouth to ask where the reception was, but the collar of my annoying school uniform tightened its grip around my neck.

Looking around in search for any signs, I came across a small, blue haired girl who had a stricken face. Was she scared of me? No, that couldn't be it.

Smiling, I walked towards her. "Hey, do you know where-?"

"Back off from my girlfriend," a boy growled. His hair was disheveled and long, dark streaks tumbling behind him. I looked from the girl and him, furrowing my eyebrow. At first they seemed like an unlikely couple, but his protective stance beside her told me otherwise.

I had no idea why the whole aura of the school seemed to hold its breath. If anything, it was meant to be me who did that!

"Ah, no, Gajeel!" The girl laughed, bubbly and cheery. It seemed out of place. "You're probably looking for the reception, right?" She pointed down the hall. "Go straight down and then turn left."

Nodding as my thanks, I continued down the hall, catching whispers as I went.

"She's so scary," someone commented, causing others to laugh. I looked towards the source of the voice, and the boy took a step backwards. Grandfather had always told me that I had a violent gaze in my eyes, always looking for trouble. But if I wanted to be something here, be worth something, I might as well try for a reputation of being someone to be aware of.

I glared at them, before turning the corner.

Headmaster Makarov had given me my timetable. Squinting my eyes, I saw that it was registration first. I sighed; I already had enough of communication.

The only seat left in the classroom was in the centre middle row. Alongside my row was a beautiful blonde haired and a gorgeous white haired, who glanced at me uneasily. The blonde haired began to doodle a bit on her textbooks, head down as if she was thinking about something. On the other hand, the white haired had stood up from her chair and was now strolling towards me. I cursed under my breath.

"Erza, was it?" She batted her eyelashes. "I'm Mirajane. Boyfriend of Laxus." I was confused as to why she wanted to get that message across, but I didn't ask. "So, basically, don't try and get in my way."

"O-okay." I turned back towards the front of the class, annoyed. Making friends was easier than expected, huh. Perks of being a transfer when people already had their friendship groups.

At the corner of the eye, I saw the blonde-haired had a determined expression painted on her face. Was she coming to threaten me, too? She put one hand at the front of my desk and leaned on it so that her hair fell down in glistening waves. "Hi, I'm Heartfilia...." She furrowed her brow. "Ehhh, that seems a bit weird. Just call me Lucy."

"L-Lucy," I tried.

"Yeah?"

An awkward silence stretched between us. "O-oh, sorry, I was just trying your name out."

Lucy giggled. "You're différent to what everyone thinks."

I knew what everyone else thought about me, but I was intrigued all the same. "What do they say about me?"

"That you're scary and violent..." Pausing mid-sentence, Lucy covered her mouth. "Ahh, I must've offended you-sorry!"

I shook my head. It was nice to have a decent conversation with a fellow classmate. I was about to continue, but our form tutor stepped into the classroom, and I was left to my own thoughts once again.
