I manage to do as much tidying and cleaning possible without any power and without disturbing mum. Then I started plating up the donuts for breakfast. I check to see if any candles have gone out and relight them. I think about what I can do in the meantime and then consult my list again. I have done everything without power on the list. I give up and start sitting doing nothing.
I start to wonder what's taking Mum so long. She should have been up already. Maybe she snoozed her alarm. But she never does that. Where the fuck is she?!?!?
The power flickers back on. I charge my iPad and search up things to do with no power. There is barely anything, but I manage to write down a few things. By this time, it is 6:50. Mum should have been up 20 minutes ago to get to work on time. Wait.. work??? Her work is closed. Oh, that makes sense now. She didn't set her alarm because she didn't have work.
I decide to wake her up at 7:00, in ten minutes. I take advantage of the power to search something up. That's strange, the power is only back on my street. How does this even work??? I just hope it doesn't start raining again.
I go reset all the clocks and appliances, hoping the power won't go out again. The last appliance I manage to do is the microwave. Then the power goes off. That's so strange because last time the power also went off after I changed the time on the microwave. And the time before that, it went out while I was zapping nachos IN THE MICROWAVE. This is creeeeepy!!!
I realise it is now 7:00 and I go to wake up Mum.
