Mum gets up from bed annoyed. The weather must have disturbed her sleep too. She fumbles about getting dressed for a few minutes and then goes to the kitchen with me. We eat our donuts happily and then devise a plan of things to do. We will play games and do things together for an hour, and then Mum will do work and I will do something alone for an hour, then play games for another hour, etc.
We start by playing Long Uno. Long Uno is a version of Uno my mum and I play where once you play out all your cards, you pick up one less than the previous pick up (7 when you start the game, then 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and then 1). The winner is the first person to play out, with only 1 card to begin with. I win by a lot. Still 1/2 an hour till Mum goes to do work.
We then play Poker. Mum is a poker SHARK, so she wins in just a few turns. In the hopes that she won't have a rematch and cause me to lose even more embarrassingly, I start setting up Backgammon. This game is quite even. After a series of twists and turns, I win, just.
Ten minutes until Mum deserts me. Just enough time to play a normal game of Uno. Mum gets 4 pick-up-2 cards and makes me pick up 8, then calls Uno. In my 8 cards I just pick up and my cards from before, I don't have a single wildcard. Mum therefore wins.
Mum has to go and work now, so I need to entertain myself for an hour.
