I opened the door slightly and peeked in hoping my mother wasn't home yet, lord knows I didn't want to hear her mouth right now. I didn't see her car outside but you could never be too careful. I finally walked in relieved that she wasn't there yet. She probably got called into the hospital. My mom and Ms.Kat are nurses. Ms.Kat is like a second mother to me. She and my mom have been friends since high school. That's why I've known Terrence and Toni all my life. I went down the hall to my room and flopped down on my bed. I thought more about this whole fight situation and decided to take Toni's advice and just let it go for now and figure things out as I go along. I took a shower and washed my hair. I changed into some shorts and a tank top. I was walking down the hall and stopped infront of my brothers doors. His name is Anthony and he's in the military . I remember being so mad at him when he told me and my mom that he had joined. I wasn't really mad I was actually scared. Me and Anthony are close even though we're four years apart and I don't know what I'd do if something happened to him. It's been 8 months since we've last seen him. I blinked away the tears beginning to form and left out his room. Just then I heard the front door close.
"Liyah!"
"Yes ma?" I walked into the kitchen where she was.
"Can you get the rest of those bags out the car?"
"Alright."
After we finished putting up the food sat on the couch in the livingroom.
"How was your day ma?"
"Tiring, these people trying to work me to death. How was yours? "
"Could've been better but it's whatever."
"Can I go to this party tomorrow with Toni?"
"Who's party?"
"Derrick, he goes to my school."
"His parents gonna be there?"
"Ummm probably not."
"Mm I don't know. "
"Ma come on I'm 17." I say whining a little.
"Thats supposed to mean what?"
"I'm responsible and old enough to make the right decisions. I mean you're always telling me how I'm gonna be an adult soon. I'm not gonna do anything reckless."
"Alright go ahead but of anything go down I don't want to hear it."
"Nothing's going to go down." I said getting off the couch and going back to my room. I called Toni.
"Helloooooooo?"
"Must you always be so extra?" I ask laughing at her goofiness.
"Girl dont you know? But anyway how'd things go with your mom?"
"She doesn't know about it yet, what about you?"
"My mom isn't home yet but I doubt she knows cause she would've called or something."
"Good but it's only a certain amount of time before they find out."
"Well I don't know about you but I'll cross that bridge when I get there."
"Yeah I guess I'll tell her after the party."
"Yas we about to turn up!"
"Yup but let me go, I'm tired as hell."
"Alright sis, I'll see you tomorrow. "
This party is about to be interesting.
