Serena's POV
Around an hour passed and I was finally able to read my book in peace, after crying for about 20 minutes. I wish I could've stayed like this forever. Just be lazy all day and night and do absolutely nothing. Sound appealing to me. "Good evening, Miss Yvonne." I heard a familiar voice saying.
I looked up and saw Ramos, the butler of the house, realizing that he was the person I needed at the moment. I don't know why, but when Ramos is around, it's like the sun goes up. Ramos is already an older man, in his 60's. He's kind of small, always looks clean and neat and is the absolute King of Gossip. He is even worse than Dawn, but I love that about him. He is like a grandfather to me.
"Ramos, when will you finally just call me by my name? Just Serena, it's okay." I said but he just shook his head. "You know I can't do that." he answered. Now I shook my head, smiling. "You are impossible." I told him chuckling, making him laugh. "Always, Miss Yvonne." he laughed and I started laughing with him. He sat down next to me and the laughing slowly came to an end.
"Your eyes are a bit red, Miss. Did you cry? What happened?" Ramos asked in concern and I first hesitated, and told him it was nothing, but he convinced me telling him the story about what happened an hour ago. Ramos knew what really happened two years ago,
on the day of the fire, so he was beyond shocked and disgusted, when I told him about Miette and Ash. "That is rude!" he exclaimed and I nodded in response."Yeah, I know, but It's fine now." I said, but Ramos just shook his head, disagreeing. "No Serena, that behavior is unacceptable!"
"Jeez Ramos, you're so angry, you just called me by my first name." I told him chuckling what changed his furios expression, into an embarrassed one. "I didn't realize, sorry. Whatever, I'm afraid I need to go inside again, Miss Yvonne, or my evil queen is going to kill me." he said, what made me laugh. "Sure, it's okay. Bye Ramos." I said smiling. He smiled back and got into the teenager-filled house again. I made myself comfortable and continued reading my book.
——1 hour later——
I've been reading for a while now. I think I lost track of time, but I couldn't care less. I was growing a little tired, but I didn't want to go inside just yet.
"Hey," a male, familiar voice said, which scared me the heck off. I was so concentrated on my book that I didn't realize that someone just sat next to me. With in shock widened eyes, I looked next to me, to see the last person I wanted to breath the same air with at the moment.
Ash Ketchum.
I didn't say a word and just ignored him. I looked back at my book and continued reading it. "So, you're just going to ignore me?" he asked, but I ignored him.
That was a yes.
"Look, I'm sorry," he apologized, but as I would care. I continued ignoring him. "Uhm, I just apologized. I don't do that often, you know," he let me know. I didn't respond again, as he slowly started to get on my nerves. "Isn't that the part where you forgive me and everything is fine again?" he asked playfully, probably joking, which made me even angrier than I already was.
"Listen," he stared, but I lost it. I closed my book violently and looked into his eyes. I didn't say anything, just looked at him, hoping he would get the message. He almost seemed surprised at my reaction. I guess he isn't used to girls rejecting him, or whatever I was doing. To be honest, his expression almost made me laugh, but I could hold it.
After the warning look I gave him, I stood up, left the garden through a little wooden gate and started to take a little walk around the block. I didn't want to go inside, because of the party and especially, because I didn't want to bump into Miette. I didn't realize I took the book with me, and since I can't enjoy reading while walking, I just held it in my hand. I didn't even get the chance to go around the corner, as suddenly a hand appeared on my shoulder, turning me around gently. It was Ash again. The warmth of his hand spread through my body making me shiver, and I really hate admitting it, but I liked that feeling. There was no way I'd let him know that though.
"Don't you have more important stuff to do?" I asked annoyed, but he didn't seem to care. He just shook his head in response. "Nope. Not until you forgive me." he said. It was really hard not to forgive him, with this really cute puppy face, but I was angry and felt humiliated. I didn't say anything, just looked at him coldly. "I'm really sorry, okay?" he reached out for my shoulder, but I flinched back. "You should be." I said plainly and went back inside. Looks like I need to hide in my room.
I went through the garden back in the house to my room and locked the door, because I didn't want any drunk couples to come inside and make out. I layed down on my bed and continued reading the book, even though the music was annoying, but I was so tired, a few minutes later, I dozed off.
———next morning———
School - end of first period (09:30 am):
20 minute breakAfter the first period, May and Dawn almost jumped on me. "You need to tell us everything!" Dawn almost yelled. I motioned with my hand for her to calm down a bit. "What do you mean?" I asked and they exchanged looks and looked back at me again, as I was the dumbest person ever. Well, I probably was. "You were talking with Ash Ketchum yesterday!" Dawn said.
I couldn't hear that name anymore. I feel like there is an Ash-curse on me. I just met him, knew him for like 21 hours, and he already made me the most pissed person on planet earth. "Oh, that..." I said emotionless, realizing we already arrived at my locker. I needed to get a book for the next period. I opened my locker violently, what wasn't on purpose, but my anger just took control over me. "Jeez, you're pissed as hell." May said and she was right.
I was pissed as hell.
I actually didn't want to tell them about what happened yesterday, because I didn't want to get on their nerves with my drama, but I was so pissed I couldn't hold it in anymore. I told them everything from when we met in literature class to the incident on Miette's welcome party. Their looks reminded me of Ramos' one yesterday, when I told him the story. Shocked and disgusted. "Ok, I knew he could be an asshole, but that is not cool!" Dawn said and May nodded in agreement. "Imma kick his ass!" she said and kicked the wall.
"Sure May, but the wall shouldn't pay for his attitude." I joked, making Dawn chuckle. After I got my book, I closed my locker and turned to May. "Let's go." I said as we continued to walk down the hallway, away from the lockers.
As we walked down the hallway, talking about yesterday, someone tapped me on my shoulder. The warmth of this hand was just too familiar. Although I already new who it was, I turned around to check and I was completely right with my suggestion. Speaking of the devil, it belonged to Ash Ketchum. "Good luck with that." Dawn whispered, grabbed May's wrist and almost sprinted away. I tried to grab her arm, so they would stay with me, but I failed. Did they seriously leave me alone like that?
I turned back to Ash, who was already looking apologetically down in my eyes.
"What?" I asked coldly, making him take a deep breath. Where was this going?
"I'm sorry." he said, but this time he looked way more serious than yesterday. "You should be." I answered just as I did yesterday and I was about to turn around and leave, but then he grabbed my shoulder and turned me around to him again, gently, not even a bit violence in his motion. He just looked at me. He looked like he was thinking about how he was going to form his next sentence, but I wasn't planning on forgiving him anyway, so I pushed his hand down my shoulder. "If you don't have to say anything, I'm gonna leave." I said and turned around, but I froze as he said one sentence, which hurt like a stitch in my chest. Luckily, he couldn't see my face and just saw my back, because this sentence made tears build up in my eyes, blurring my vision.
"Miette told me what really happened."
As always, please tell me if you find any mistakes. Also, tell me if you have any wishes for the story. This story is a a few words shorter than the other ones, so I'm sorry. I didn't even plan to stop here, but that was the perfect moment for a cliffhanger, so I couldn't resist :D
The next chapter will probably also be up this week. Thanks for reading
