Serena's POV

I turned around to him and looked into his eyes, pretty much emotionlessly. "How much do you know?" I asked.

"No details, if that's what you're worried abo-"

"Okay look, it's not like we're friends or something, so why don't we just go separate ways here. I'll switch seats with someone in literature class and we never need to talk again, okay?"

I cut him off, and before he could say anything, I turned around and walked back to May and Dawn, who were waiting for me at the end of the hallway. "How did it go?" Dawn asked. I told them about our conversation and that I definitely won't ever talk to him again

Ever

"Naw, poor baby!" Dawn said and hugged me, probably sensing I was really close to cry again. "I'm gonna beat the hell out of him!" May exclaimed what caused me to giggle.

"I hate being cheesy about this, but as long as you are here I'm okay." I told them which caused May to hug me as well with a loud "Awwww." and Dawn to hug me even tighter.

"Ughh... oxygen"

I grunted, not able to breath properly. "You can't expect us to not hug you after being so cute babe." Dawn spoke. "Omg Dawn is emotional again! Run Serena! Run! Save yourself!" May shouted what caused all of us too giggle. "I hate you, May." Dawn said and I giggled even harder.

Serena's room - just after school (04:20pm):

I just arrived from school and laid down on my bed, starting to think. Luckily, Palermo wasn't home yet and I still had a few hours before I needed to head to Misty's, the cafe I work in (because Palermo won't even give me a dollar so I need a way to survive through high school), so I had plenty of time just to think.

And think. And think. And think.

Thinking is nice. It's a great distraction, but of course with thinking comes perspective and with perspective comes layers. It's easy to loose yourself in them.

I have this weird habit where I press me thumbnail into the tip of my index finger when I'm thinking, which always leaves a wound there. I don't know why I'm doing that, but it started right after my partents' death, so I guess that's just my way to deal with it, but I swear I'm not hurting myself on purpose. It just happens. I just find myself digging my nail into my finger sometimes. But I guess it will accompany me through my living, or through my dying.

If death is the opposite of life, why is living and dying the same thing?

Even though thinking is complex, it helps me to forget things for a short time, just me and my big world of thoughts. Today, I had to forget about one specific thing:

Ash.

His name in my head left a disgusting taste on my tongue for some reason. It's like the thought about him was leaving dirt on my body. I really hated him. Really. But I don't have to do something with him anymore, so I can get over it.

                  ——10 minutes later——
At Misty's [CAFE] (05:00pm):

I jumped of my bike and almost ran into the cafe. When I opened the door I immediately went into the room which's door says 'only staff', grabbed my uniform, went through another door which says 'Serena', because it's my cabin (every worker has his own), changed and let my clothes lay there. After I got out of my cabin, I spotted Misty, my boss in the staff's lounge and greeted her.

"Hey Misty! I'm sorry I'm a little late." I apologized, but she just shook her head. "Nah hun, it's okay. It was just, like, two minutes? So it's cool." she let me know. She seemed kinda weird to be honest. She looked so happy? Misty is indeed a very nice person, and since she's already 20, she's like a big sister to me, but she's more of the tough nature. She reminds me of May sometimes. This happy attitude wasn't usual for her.

"Well, I got news for you, Serena." She started.

"You're going to have a new colleague! You actually took over his place after he needed to leave Kalos two years ago, but since this cafe runs so good, I've been looking for some help here and now it looks like he came back from his trip, so he's going to work here again. I'm just really excited to see him again. He's like a little brother to me, you know. I bet you'll like him!"

"Sure!" I said and meant it. I liked the idea of not working here alone anymore, since it's quite exhausting sometimes, because, as Misty said, this cafe runs really good, which means I have to deal with a lot of customers on my own. I only work on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, since Paul and Tierno, other colleagues, work on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays, but they can help each other. I'm always here on my own.

"Very well! Oh, you better get to work. We got new customers!" she said and I nodded in response. I turned around and saw the customers, waiting for me to get there order and bringing them their drinks and foods.

After a few minutes of working, Misty showed up and walked up to me. "Okay, I guess he should come any second." she let me now and I nodded in response, but after I saw the door flung open and new customers coming in, I excused myself.

"Sorry Misty, quickly going to take their order, okay?" she nodded in response and I immediately walked up to table three, where the new customers sat, and took their order. While taking it, I heard the door flung open and Misty being crazy about it, so I supposed the new colleague showed up, but since I needed to do my job, I couldn't look, but I was able to hear his voice.

It was a male voice, but since Misty mentioned it was a boy by using the pronoun 'he', I'm not surprised, but what surprised me, he had a very beautiful voice. It was dark, but not too dark. Deep, but not too deep. And it was damn hot and yes, too hot. Thank you, hormones.

After I took the order, which was two cheesecakes and a Frappé for two boys around my age, I went inside the kitchen, got the fresh cheesecake and cut two slices of of it. After that, I made the Frappé and immediately brought them to table 3.

„Enjoy!" I said and they started to eat. After checking that everybody had their food and drinks, I went through the door 'only staff' and sat down on the couch without looking and just closed my eyes. I seriously could've fallen asleep, if there wouldn't have been this voice again.

„Wow. This is getting creepy"

He said and once I opened my eyes in shock, I realized who the voice belonged to and even though I didn't like this person one bit, he was totally right. This was getting creepy. The voice belonged to the none other than raven-haired boy,

than Ash Ketchum.

Of course it was him again. How do we always manage to bump into each other?Wait. No. Is he..?

„Oh no. Don't tell me..." I started.

„Yup"

„No"

„Uh-huh"

„You mean, you are...?"

„The new one? Yeah, that's me." he said and my whole world crashed. Out of all the people in Kalos, why him? How do we always manage to meet again? Is this destiny? Why does it keep making me and Ash meet?

As we continued to look at each other, Misty came in. „Ah I see! You two already met!"

I highly recommend the book Turtled All The Way Down by John Green.
P.S. They had internet in a restaurant here, so I used it to write and upload this chapter
