“Where have you been, Kayla?” Vicky asked me when I walked into her bedroom. It's around 10 am.
“Why did you lie to me?” I almost yelled at her. Her face changed completely, being more scared.
“What? I did not lie.”
“Stop already! It's pathetic. I talked to Ethan.”
“He is lying to you!” she insisted, this time more worried than before.
“I've known him for ten fucking years. I know he's not that kind of guy. He would never do that to a girl.”
“You are not even that close to him! And you choose to trust him? I am your best friend, Kayla. And who is him? Your boyfriend's brother!” her tone changed completely, being more furious now.
“First, he is not only my boyfriend's brother. He is my friend. He's always been by my side, and he always had my back when I needed him. We've spent more than half of our lives with each other.” I yelled, angrier than ever. “Second, I've known you for only two years and a half. Yes, you are my best friend, and I love you, but I think it's pretty clear who I choose to trust.” I continued, as I tried to calm myself down.
“Really, Kayla? Really? Okay, so I lied. So what? It's not like it would matter if I did or not. He's still not going to ever want me. I am nobody. And he is Ethan Dolan.” she fell on her bed, covering her face with her hands. She started crying. Okay, what do I do now?
“You know you shouldn't have lied, Vicky. He cared about you. But now... I don't think so.”
“It's only your fault! If you wouldn't have talked to him in the first place, then he'd still love me. He is the love of my life, Kayla! You ruined everything!” she yelled at me furiously.
“Don't blame this on me! You are the one who lied!”
“Get the hell out of my house. I hope I never see you again!”
“What? Vicky, stop it. I'm not going anywhere. We're going to-”
“No, it's your fault that Ethan doesn't love me anymore.”
“Oh my God! You are the one who lied. And who said he loved you?” before she gets to answer, I stop her. “You know what? Fuck this. Fine, I'll go. But don't come to me when no one will talk to you and you'll be lonely. You did this to yourself!”
I grab my bag and storm out of her room. Fortunately, I don't meet any of her parents on my way out.
I throw my bag in the back seats and rest my head on the steering wheel and sigh loudly.
What the fuck did just happen? Did we just fight over a boy? Well, kind of. What? Well, I guess those stupid movies were right. High school friendships are not going to last long.
My phone starts ringing. I take it out from the pocket of my jacket and see Michelle's number. I roll my eyes before I answer.
“What do you want?” I asked her annoyed.
“We were just leaving the house for breakfast. It's all yours until tomorrow.”
“Alright. Bye!”
“Bye!”
She hangs up and I throw my phone in the passenger seat. I wipe off the forming tears from my eyes, then turn on the car and head to my house.
I get there fast and my first instinct is to take a long ass bath. That's exactly what I need right now.
Probably an hour later, I finally get out. I wrap my body in a towel and my hair in another one, then exit my bathroom. I walk downstairs to make something to eat. As I was cooking the bacon, I hear a few knocks at my door. I decide to ignore them, because I was still in the towel. I think I locked the door when I got home. Or did I?
