The next day, everyone was looking at me. I guess they found out about Jason getting arrested and why he was arrested. Some were looking at me pitifully, some in anger. I don't know why they were angry, but I didn't care.
Last night, as I was talking to Vicky, Grayson went to pick up my car from the high school, so I drove here today.
I am on my way to the Spanish class, which I have with Nick, one of Grayson's friends, who is the captain of the football team.
“How are you feeling, Kayla?” Nick joined me, out of the sudden. I am a little confused by the attention I get from him.
“I'm good, thanks for asking.” I answered, looking a little at him. He was enormous compared to me.
“I heard about yesterday. I'm sorry.” he said, and my glance fell on the floor. I sigh a little, closing my eyes.
“Thanks.”
“If you ever need anything, just ask me, okay?” he said, as we walked inside the classroom.
Clearly Grayson forced him to talk to me, and probably watch over me. That bastard... I don't care it's his birthday today.
“Okay. Thank you.” I answered, sitting down at my desk. He nodded, then smiled, sitting down two rows behind me.
One hour later, I exit the classroom, heading to Grayson's locker. I haven't seen him yet because this morning I was running late and I didn't have time to see him before the first period.
I see him talking to Samantha. They have History together.
When she sees me, she smiles, then walks away in the other direction. Grayson turns around, confused, then sees me. A huge grin forms on his face, as he was watching me get closer to him. I roll my eyes, smiling.
“Happy birthday, chipmunk man!” I said, wrapping my hands around his neck. He chuckles, hugging me back.
“Thank you, gorgeous!” he kisses my lips and I giggle.
“Now, I have a question. Why did Nick Parker, the captain of the football team, talk to me? I mean, he is your friend, not mine.”
“He did? Wow!” he scratches the back of his neck, acting like he has no idea what I'm talking about.
“Stop lying, Gray. I know you asked him to.” I rolled my eyes, smiling. “Thank you. It was sweet of you.” I hug him again, then kiss his lips quickly. “But, don't ever do that again. I don't need to be friends with the populars. I already date one of them, and am a good friend to another one.”
“Alright, alright.” he chuckled.
“By the way, what does Ethan have now?”
“I think Art.”
“Great. Thanks. See you later!” I peck his lips, then run away from him to the stairs. I climb them down, getting the gift bag out of my backpack. I see him a few feet away from the door. “Ethan, wait!” I yelled, still running to him. He turns around confused, but then sees me. I stop in front of him, breathing heavily. “Happy birthday!” I wished him, giving him the present.
“Thank you, Kayla! You didn't have to though.” he said and I rolled my eyes.
“Oh, please, shut up.” I scoffed and he started laughing.
He hugs me and I smile. Before breaking the embrace, he kisses my cheek and I chuckle.
“See you later!” I said, before turning around and walking to my next class.

I take the gift bag from my locker, then throw some of the books I don't need anymore inside, then I close it.
