Learning to be a ghost
Days had passed and one early Sunday morning my father open my window very wide and a gust of wind just blew through the house, and the cool fall air seemed to just flow through my spiritual body, it was an exceptional feeling I was feeling, moreover, my father's grief began to get better, he was coming and going again, nevertheless right now I really missed Steve, but little did I know Steve was also missing me. As I was enjoying the cool breeze flowing through the house, I could hear him call out to me.
"Shameka,"
"Steve is that you?"
"Yeah Shameka, come on out and let's have some fun."
"Steve, please tell me how a ghost can have fun?"
"Come with me and I'll show you."
"You ain't gotta ask me twice, here I come."
We played terrifying ghost tricks on a lot of people. Steve did the most tricks considering I was only just now learning to be a ghost. So far me we did simple things; we made someone's hot dog fly out of their bun and we caused some birds to surround a person, now that was really funny, especially the way that person ran hopelessly through the park.
"Please Steve," I cried. "Will you show me how to do that?"
"Sure, first of all; you must know animals can see you; not clearly but just enough for them to know that you are there and because of who and what you are, animals will do almost anything for you, surely you know its only out of fear."
"Okay now let me try."
"Sure, take those dogs over there; I want you to allow them to see you. Get up close and then ask them to sit, use dog signals with your hand motioning them to all sit at once."
Confused about what Steve was talking about, again I asked.
"Okay, Steve, how do I do that?"
"Have you ever seen a dog be trained by his master? And you do remember how you are to project yourself? You did say you have tried these techniques that you use them on your father. Well, now I want you to use those same techniques motioning the dogs to do what you want them to do.
"Sure, I remember."
"Good, you know how, because that is the same way the dogs will respond to you."
So I did just what Steve asks me to do. I notice one dog was lying beside his master while his other two dogs laid up under a tree behind the bench, the other men dogs were all cuddle under the bench, the dogs all at once got up and they gathered in a row and sat down beside their masters; with their front paws flat on the ground and their hind legs tuck up under their body. There were three maters and six dogs when the dogs all sat at once the three men looked at each other as if to say; what, why, and how.
We stayed and played in the park all night until daybreak. Now I wonder what Steve had planned for us today. After we left the park, Steve and I went to a house that sat on the poor side of town. All of the homes were run down pretty badly. There was a little-ruined house that sat kind of off from the rest. The shutters were coming off the windows, the screen door was just hanging off the hinges, and the rain gutters were hanging off the house. We shimmered inside, and there was a little boy asleep. While he slept he tossed and turned in his sleep. The house had a family of two, much like my dad and myself, instead of a little girl and a man; it was a little boy and his mother, and the woman looked like she had been up all night drinking her troubles away.
When the little boy got up; he got ready for school on his own. Later his mother called for him, the little boy looked annoyed as though he did not want to be bothered by his mother. Steve had the same strange annoying look on his face also. I did not understand the lack of respect the child showed his mother until she came in his room yelling at the little boy and cursing him out, calling the little boy out of his name.
