When I parked my car in my usual parking spot, I shut off the engine and took a deep breath. I looked in the mirror really quickly and was proud of my appearance. I had put on mascara and my outfit was something I was hoping Dylan would take notice of.
I decided to wear the pale pink tube top Layla found in my closet and paired it up with high waisted white shorts. Just so I wouldn't feel totally uncomfortable, I also wore my beat-up converse.
I heard knocking on my window and I almost jumped back in fear by the loud noise. Layla was motioning for me to get out already. I opened my door slowly, hoping it would just be the end of the day already. Why do I get so nervous?
I walked side by side with Layla and nobody's eyes were on me. I don't know why I expected everyone to notice my outfit change, but I didn't mind. I hated being the center of attention, unless it was Dylan's attention of course.
Layla opened the door to the building for me, and whispered, "Okay, Dylan should be by his locker right now. I know you have to pass his to get to yours, so make sure you strut."
I giggle escaped my lips and I did exactly that. Only a few people turned around and noticed my new clothing choices, but they were the people that sat next to me in classes and knew that my fanciest outfit was an actual fitted t-shirt.
I spotted Dylan in the corner of my eye, and turned my eyes to the end of the hallway so he wouldn't catch me looking at him. I lifted my chin and made sure I looked confident. Maybe it was because Layla was hyping me up a lot, but I felt really good about myself.
Looking back at Dylan for a split-second, I noticed him talking to one of his friends facing the other way. As I walked closer, I noticed it was Cameron he was talking to. I almost tripped in my step. I never really saw the two together even though I knew they were friends.
Cameron looked at me, a little confused, but then turned towards Dylan. Dylan definitely noticed me.
I walked past them and waited at the corner of the hallway.
I high-fived Layla and girlishly squealed before she headed to class. I looked back, seeing Cameron make his way over to me, with Dylan headed the opposite direction.
"Was this for Dylan?" Cameron asked, pointing at my outfit, with his eyebrows raised.
"Yea, did it work? What did he say?" I was eager to know if Dylan said anything about me.
"Apparently. Dylan was definitely checking you out as you walked away." Cameron said. "Look at you, making a decision by yourself. I'm so proud," he said jokingly.
I shrugged innocently, happy to hear I caught Dylan's attention. "What were you doing with Dylan before I got here?"
The bell rang suddenly and Cameron took a few steps back, "I got to go to class. I'll catch up with you later." Cameron dodged the question which piqued my curiosity.
I walked to class and happily sighed, ignoring Cameron's mysteriousness and focusing on Dylan. I wanted to stand on the teacher's desk and jump up and down in excitement.
I didn't focus at all on what my teacher was talking about for an entire hour. I kept daydreaming about Dylan asking me out or grabbing me and kissing me. Either one made me smile like an idiot.
I was excited going to my next class because I shared it with Dylan and Cameron, so if anything else were to happen today, it'd be in that class.
Casually walking inside the class, I took a seat at my assigned desk and waited for Dylan to arrive.
Cameron walked in first and he noticed me sitting and watching the door like a hawk. He stopped walking and laughed. Walking towards me, he said, "Try not to be so obvious." He could barely hold in his laughter as he walked towards his seat.
