"So then he basically asked me to come to the game Friday night," I said, excitement in my voice.
Cameron nodded, smirking "Asked you to go, or just asked if you were going?"
I playfully rolled my eyes, "Same thing."
We were in the middle of studying precalc but I couldn't help but share my exciting news as Cameron practiced his polynomials.
"What time should I pull up to Layla's again?" He asked, while concentrating on his work.
"She says sometime around five," I replied. I, however, was planning on showing up earlier to spend some time with her and make her feel special.
When I got to school this morning, I had a cute pink balloon with the words "happy b-day" on it and tried to find her as soon as I could so people didn't think it was my birthday. The rest of her gifts were coming with me later to her house.
Just then, Danny, Marco, and Layla made their way to the library, where Cameron and I were. "Nice of you to finally show up," Cameron said, nodding his head towards them, with a slight smile on his lips. I've been tutoring him for over an hour now and I could tell he was losing interest.
"Well now you squeezed in an extra half hour of math, so you're welcome," Marco said, sticking his tongue out at him. "Lord knows you need it."
I chuckled and watched Cameron shut his textbook and throw everything lazily into his backpack. Layla set her balloon to the side as she took out the box of doughnuts that the guys had given her earlier.
"Alright, let's eat some dessert," she said, opening the box displaying the dozen of different kinds of doughnuts.
Danny and I seemed to be the first ones to dodge for the chocolate icing doughnut until he eventually let me have it since I was not letting it go. "Maple's good, too," he said, defeatedly.
Soon after, the bells rang, reminding everyone to get to class. Cameron and I walked together to precalculus, talking about Danny's love for doughnuts and how he really just brought it for Layla so he could have one.
When we walked into class, Dylan was already sitting in his seat, and Cameron shot me a smirk before going to his. "Hey," I said, as I walked past Dylan's desk to get to mine.
As I set my backpack down, he turned towards me with a smile, "Hey, El. You look cute today."
I looked down at my outfit, before replying, "Thank you." Every time he complimented me, I'd get so nervous and have to look away or else he'd notice my beet-red face. I looked over to Cameron, noticing him looking confused at his phone, then looking up to me. This made me wonder what he just saw on his phone.
I silently mouthed 'what?'
He pointed at his phone, and then a few seconds later I got a text from him. I could see Dylan turning around to talk to me again, but I was really curious as to what Cameron's text said. I smiled at him, hiding the confusion on my face from just a second ago.
"Want to hang out after the game tomorrow? To celebrate the win?" Dylan asked.
"Oh, what makes you so sure you're going to win?" I said, smirking, but impatiently waiting for the conversation to be over so I could see what Cameron sent me.
He chuckled, "I never lose."
I shrugged my shoulder, "Guess we'll just have to see."
He turned back to face the front of the classroom, smirking back at me.
I immediately unlocked my phone to read Cameron's text.
All it said was to check Nina's Instagram.
