At the sound of my doorbell ringing, I quickly fixed my hair over my shoulders and took a soft breath in before opening the door.

Since both my parents were home, I decided the best place to study would just be my bedroom, although I would be very distracted with Cameron being in there.

Opening the door, his shiny, brown eyes fell upon me and he greeted me with the smallest turn of his lips. I smiled back, and opened the door wider for him to come in. Nothing unusual here, he's been here before.

Cameron started walking towards the living room where we'd normally study, but I pointed him in the direction of the hallway, "Actually, today we'll be cramped in my room. My parents are home and they are not quiet people."

He chuckled, and followed me to my room.

Looking over at the slightly open window in my room, he said, "Funny to be on the other side." He walked over to look out the window. "I remember when you snuck out of here to come to my car."

I looked nervously down at my feet, recalling the time he called me, "I was worried."

He smirked at me, "I know. I was being an asshole."

I shrugged, "Just your lovely self, I guess."

He smiled back at me and set his backpack down against the chair in front of my desk. I pulled up another seat and we both sat pointed towards the desk.

He took out his massive pre-calc book and asked, "Oh, by the way how did the football game go?"

I couldn't hide my disappointment. I practically facepalmed and groaned. "You don't want to know."

"That bad?" he asked.

"Just not what I was expecting," I replied looking back at him to find him already facing me.

It was quiet for a few more seconds, so I decided to switch gears. "Okay, so where are we at?" I looked through the pages of the textbook, finding the section we needed to work on.

Going through the questions was simple enough. I tried to direct my full attention to the math problems, but every now and then, I became very aware of Cameron's eyes on me. Every time he'd look at me, I would tuck my hair behind my ear, then remove it, then tuck it back again.

Thankfully, he didn't mention anything about my strangeness.

After going through a whole page of problems, I was proud to see Cameron understanding the concept and getting the answers right. "Can we take a break now? I can't keep looking at numbers anymore," he whined.

"Fine. You deserve it," I said, shutting the book even though it's only been 25 minutes.

We sat still for a moment, then Cameron turned to face me. "So I guess after this test I'm not going to need my tutor anymore."

I shook my head slowly, "No you're not. But your tutor is proud of you regardless of how you do on the test."

He gave me a small smile again. His eyes seemed to pierce into me, how have I not noticed that before? I can't stop looking at him.

"So," he started, trailing off. "How come Friday night didn't go as expected?"

I sighed, looking off to the side. Of course he'd come back to this topic. "Dylan just confuses me. Sometimes it feels obvious he likes me, and other times I feel like he barely sees me as a friend."

"Guys are just confusing like that," he replied, still keeping eye contact with me.

Deciding to just be totally honest, I said, "He didn't even invite me to the party after the game, which pissed me off."
