A/N: I'm so terribly sorry for giving Jackson his own storyline 🙄

Five more times, I asked Mason the same question, and five more times, I got the exact same answer: "Nothing's wrong, Harry

Five more times, I asked Mason the same question, and five more times, I got the exact same answer: "Nothing's wrong, Harry. Don't worry." It was bullcrap. It had to be. He wouldn't have to keep telling me not to worry if he wasn't worrying about it so obviously himself! There was clearly something to be worried about!

I did say I'd ask Kenny if Mason wouldn't tell me, but... I kept trying anyway. For all I knew, Kenny didn't even know what was wrong with him. It would be a waste of time and effort.

I just didn't understand why Mason wouldn't tell me! He was perfectly capable of telling me himself. He wasn't avoiding me, and he'd finally stopped staring into nothingness without saying a single word—though he was still not as talkative as he used to be—so it would be a simple matter of telling me what was bothering him so much! Was it that hard?

After a week of absolutely nothing, I eventually tried asking Kenny, even if I felt bad about it, because I really had no other option. Thankfully, I found him alone in his room, and relentlessly struggled through the question, "C-can I ask you s-something?"

Kenny took longer to reply than I'd expected. He put his hand on the door post with a thoughtful expression on his face, and I was about to say 'never mind' and run away—or maybe walk away since that was more socially acceptable—when he replied, "Okay."

"Alright, w-well, um."

"Come in."

"O-oh, okay." I followed him in and watched him close the door, which didn't really help with my anxiety, but... what can you do? It wouldn't be nice to say, "I'd rather stand out here because you scare me," because people usually didn't react positively to such statements. I doubt Kenny would appreciate it.

"What is it?"

I took a deep breath and looked up at him, secretly wishing for him to sit down so he wasn't so tall—

Stop it, Harriet. You only need to ask him a question. It's not that hard.

I sighed, clasped my hands behind my back and said, "Well, I'm, uh... I'm worried about M-Mason. He's been acting kinda strange and Jackson said y-y-you— you might know why."

"Oh."

"Do you?"

He shrugged and mumbled, "No idea."

Darn it.

I suppose I should have listened to the 'brotherly wisdom' that Nazy had passed onto me, which was literally the only thing she'd told me about her date with Jackson, which kind of disappointed me, because I'd hoped for her to come to me and Krista with a bunch of cute stories, but I digress. I'd ask her about it later.
