“or we could ditch class.”
He suggested. I bit my lip nervously, considering it
“I don’t know if we should, won’t we get in trouble?”
he nodded and faked a sad face. “Oh ok we’ll go to class” I started to reconsider my decision then James muttered quietly
“fine, be a stick in the mud.” I scoffed.
“I am NOT a stick in the mud”
he smirked again “ok. Prove it ditch class, its last block any ways. I can drive you home after.” I shook my head “you can’t. Larry will wonder why I’m not in the car after school.” He looked down “oh right” I met his eyes “ok, I’ll ditch. Just bring me back before school ends.” He smiled pleased with my final decision. “Well let’s go then.” I smiled as he grabbed my hand and guided me out of the school’s back doors.
he opened his truck door on the passenger side and he helped me get in. then he got in on the driver’s side, and smiled at me. “Buckle up” I smiled back “I already did” I stuck my tongue out at him. He laughed and started the truck then he buckled himself in. I smiled at him as he started his truck, and began to drive. I looked out the window at the road ahead “where are we going?” I asked not taking my eyes off the road. “It’s a surprise.” Then he turned on the radio to the country music. I immediately started having flashbacks to when Larry would blast country music before a beating I reached for the radio and I turned it off.
I looked at James, he had a confused look on his face. I smiled at him sweetly “I hate country music. No offense” he nodded still looking at the road “why?” I looked at my hands “Larry would blast it right before a beating.” James said “oh, i'm sorry” and then it was silent for a while. I turned on the radio again to hip hop music and started to bop my head to it. “Let’s not talk about Larry,ok. I never heard this before I like it” James smiled “really? Wow you have been missing out.” I laughed.
“So are you really not going to tell me where we are going?”
he shook his head
“nope. But we are almost there. So I need you to close your eyes.”
I laughed “ok. Ok you win”
I shut my eyes. 10 mins later the truck stopped, and heard the driver’s side door open. “Keep your eyes closed.” James told me I nodded then I heard the door shut and the passenger side door open, I felt the cool summer breeze blow in. James grabbed my hand, “ok keep your eyes closed, and just follow the sound of my voice.” I bit my bottom lip nervously, as felt James tug me towards him a little. I got scared and froze.
Then I heard James calming voice
“it’s ok I’m right here. Do you trust me?”
puzzled I asked “what?”
he chuckled a little “do you trust me?”
I nodded and James helped me out of the truck. “Can I open my eyes now?”
he chuckled “not yet. Patience.”
I smiled “ok”
James walked with me following him, he held my hand to guide me in the direction to go. Then we stopped. “Sit please” James said and I slowly sat down. “Ok, you can open your eyes now.” I opened my eyes, and saw the ocean with the hot summer sun shining down on us. I looked over and James was sitting beside me, I looked at the ground and we were sitting on a blanket of sand. I had the biggest smile on my face. He smiled and stole a kiss on the check, I smiled at him as I secretly snuck my right hand behind my back.
