“it’s the best part because I can fake that I am still chained to the wall. And then we can escape.”
I nodded and smiled “you’re a genius James.”
He smiled “I know.”
I looked over to my left for a second to see that Larry was standing at the top of the staircase with water and bread. He came down the stairs, then James moved over to Larry and began to plead for my freedom. “Thank you, for bringing us food. But Alexis needs medical treatment; please let her go home. You can keep me, i'll do whatever you want. but please just let her go, she needs a doctor. Larry please”
Larry shoved James to the side as he set the food down, he rolled his eyes before turning back to James “listen up boy. And listen close. Do I look like I give a rip about you or her? I don’t care about her health or yours, so shut your mouth. You can stay here for all I care it makes no difference to me. And Alexis is home! This is her home. Margret and I are her adoptive parents, Therefore we own her. She will be treated by Margret when and if I see fit. Do I make myself clear?”James nodded.
Larry grunted “here eat up”
then he tossed some bread to James. I looked at the bread Larry held in his hand for me and scoffed. “What are we prisoners? Don’t you have real food?”
Larry rolled his eyes “be thankful I’m allowing you to eat.” I stole a glance of James from the corner of my eye, he looked confused and angered. I bit my lip nervously, and turned my attention back to Larry “thank you Larry.” he rolled his eyes annoyed and nodded, as he fed me the bread. James sat quietly beside me eating his bread watching me intently out of the corner of his eye.
Larry reached for a water glass, and passed it to James. then he took another glass and held it on a tilted angle by my mouth so I could drink. after the water in the cups were drained of their liquid, Larry grabbed the empty cups. As Larry was about to leave, James looked over at the clock in the corner, it read 2:33pm.
Then James spoke “please sir may we at least go to school? My parents will be worried sick if I don’t come home after school tonight. Please at least let me call them”
Larry Looked at James “No!, I don’t think so. I will call your parents myself; let me have your phone. where is it?” Larry demanded.
James sighed “it’s in my back pocket. I’ll get it out” James reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone.
He reluctantly handed it to Larry and Larry powered it on “ah ha I know I’ll text your mom, that way she won’t question anything. 'Hey, mom sorry I won’t be coming home tonight. I’m going camping with the guys for a month, I’ll be home in a month. Love you' and send.”
Larry smirked when James mom replied shortly, “she said 'ok. Honey, thank you for letting us know, we were worried about you. Have fun, love you.' Ha, now your parents won’t go out looking for you.”Larry chuckled and went back upstairs, taking James’ phone with him. I yawned “hey James” he looked at me “yeah?” I looked at the clock, it was 5:43pm “i guess, I’m going to take a nap. There is no telling when Larry will be back. Plus it’s not like there is anything else to do”
he nodded “well we could plan our escape”James suggested
I smiled and shook my head “no. not yet. We have to wait for the right timing. I want to get out of here for good.”
He looked a little disappointed but he understood my reasoning “ok. Well if you’re going to take a nap I may as well too. Night.”
I smiled “good night” after a found a semi-comfortable spot which was hard to do, being tied to a chair and all, but 30 minutes later sleep found me. and i finally began to dream.
