A/N: Okay honestly this is probably not the best and is probably incredibly rushed and has only mild D/s content, but, this has the potential of being it's own fic at some point in the future so I just kind of wanted to put this out there to see if anyone found it mildly interesting? And there's probably parts that you'll be like 'wtf is this shit what even is this?' and just go with it for now if/when I make this a thing I'll go more in depth with it I swear.

Read and enjoy.

Lauren slammed her apartment door shut, leaning her back against it and sliding to the floor. She laid her head on her knees, taking a deep breath and trying to hold back tears.

She'd been laid off three weeks ago and hadn't been hired again anywhere yet, and her rent was due in a week. On top of all of that, her car broke down the day before and in order to repair it, she had to drain her savings account.

All in all, it was not a good month for Lauren.

The pounding in her head was not helping, either, but she supposed that's what she got for refusing to find a Dominant. It'd been so long since she had let herself drop. Not since her last Dom, and that was a massive mistake she would never repeat again.

She didn't want to drop into sub space alone, either, so it'd been almost a year since the last time she had. Honestly how she was still functioning was a miracle even to herself, but she made it work.

Her phone rang suddenly, startling her and her head shot up, slamming into the door.

"Fuck," she muttered as she rubbed the back of her head and dug her phone out of her pocket. She sighed when saw the caller ID, clenching her eyes shut. "Ally," she greeted, trying to keep her voice even.

"Hey, Laur. Any luck today?"

Lauren choked on a sob, stress and exhaustion finally wearing on her. "Not at all. And my car broke and I had to use my savings to pay for the repairs, and now I don't have rent money and the landlord's an asshole. I'm tired and stressed and I just-"

"Hey, Lauren, take a breath," Ally gently interrupted as Lauren's rambling took on a frantic tone. "Do you need to stay with me for a while until you find a new job?"

Lauren shook her head as she inhaled slowly, holding her breath for a few seconds before exhaling. "I don't want to burden you and Dinah."

"You, Lauren Jauregui, are not a burden," the older woman chided sternly. "And Dinah wouldn't care. Actually, I'm sure she'd love it. She's worried about you, too."

The raven haired girl sighed, hanging her head. "I'm sorry for making you worry. Nothing's working out right now."

"You know I still have an opening at the bakery, right?"

"I don't want to take advantage of our friendship, Al."

"I know but you wouldn't, Laur. At least think about taking it until you find something else."

Lauren sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. Her headache was turning into a full migraine, and with all of the stress of the last month, she really, really needed to drop. "Okay, I will. If I did, it would only be temporary."

"Of course, babe. Just think about it."

"Tell her about Mani." Lauren heard Dinah's muffled voice in the background.

"Dinah, no."

There was a scuffle on the end of the line, and Lauren had to pull her phone away from her ear for a moment.
