THE UNKNOWN FUTURE

CHAPTER THIRTEEN

He parked outside some hotel outside town. I could tell it was a classy one by the look and I wondered how much we would spend there. He seemed to read my mind and he gave me a reassuring smile. I relaxed a bit. He came to my side and opened the door for me. He took my hand and led me into the  hotel. He pulled a seat for me and all I did was blush. He sat opposite me and looked at me with a smile on his face. He was always smiling. Maybe it’s because he knew he had a killer smile. I smiled back.
“Wow! You are drawing attention to us darling!” he said with a grin.
I looked around and all eyes were on us. I looked at myself then at Roy then back at myself again.
“How Roy? What’s wrong with me? Have I messed myself or something?” I asked with a worried look on my face. I realized that I had mentioned the word messed and looked down with shame.  He laughed at my reaction.
“Relax dear. Don’t you get it? All eyes are on you because of the beauty and elegance. You are so beautiful and they can’t help but stare.”
“ Ooh please! Just quit exaggerating all this. We both know you are the one attracting the attention. You are so handsome anyway!”
I gasped at my words and kept quite. I was becoming free with him. A waiter came to take our orders and I was grateful for the interruption.
“what drink are you having as we wait for our food Jackie?” he always wore a smile on his face.
“Am good with anything you are taking.”
I really didn’t know what I would ask for in such an expensive place. The hotel had few people and this made it more classy. Roy noticed my predicament and ordered for the crema nobile brand of wine. The wine was brought and Roy poured it into two glasses. It was a nice brand and I couldn’t help but marvel at his taste in everything. Everything he chose was just perfect. The furniture in his house was out of this world, his cars, his clothes, my own clothes and even drinks. Why was he that perfect!
“A penny for your thoughts?” he had a concerned look on his face.
“Not a chance. I'm fine.”
“ Come on Jackie! You need to trust me. You can always open up to me.” He took my hands in his and it felt good. “I want you to be free with me. I can’t hurt you in any way. I have your best interests at heart. Please don’t treat me like a stranger. It feels bad dear.” I could see sincerity in his face.
I felt a tinge of tears in my eyes and I blinked them back. He was so good to me and it felt bad treating him like a stranger.
“ I’m sorry for making you feel that way. I will try and be free with you. I was just wondering how you can be this good and perfect in everything.” He burst out laughing and I rolled my eyes. It wasn’t funny at all.
“I’m not perfect. I have my own weaknesses too. Do you club? Are you comfortable going to a club with me?”
“when? Tonight?”
“Yeah, once we are done with our dinner.”
“ I do it once in a while but I can’t go to a club dressed like this. It’s so long and holy for clubbing.” He laughed at my statement and I joined in. I had become a little free with him.
“That’s not an issue. We can look for something better once we are out of here. Some shops are still open.”
“I don’t have any money on me Roy.”
“Am the one who is buying not you.”
“But it will be too much for you. You have already done a lot for me and Braden.”
“Really Jackie? Do I look like I’m complaining? It’s nothing to me. I will do anything for you and Braden. I don’t mind spending any amount of money for you two. It’s nothing really.”
“Thanks for everything you have done for us Roy. You have such a good heart.” My eyes were clouded with emotional tears. His kindness was just too much.
“It’s okay Jackie. Let’s get out of here before you get overwhelmed by all this. I don’t want to see you cry.”
He paid the bill and we left the hotel. We drove into some mall and we were lucky that some shops were still open. He helped me choose some dresses and we ended up buying more than we had planned for. Just how rich was he? I was in for more surprises. I was learning to keep up with Roy and that was not the end of it.
