CHAPTER 36

ROY
Dave and Ann arrived almost immediately and came towards me.
“What’s the issue bro? You are losing a good woman because of Becky? What got into you? What were you thinking?” It was clear that Dave was angry. My whole family loved Jackie. I wondered how dad and mum would react if they heard what had happened. There was no way I would let them know. I had to talk to Jackie and sort out our issues before it got to them.
“Please don’t lecture me Dave. I don’t have anything to do with Becky. She is in my past and I love Jackie so much. Help me talk to her first and you can lecture me later. Jackie comes first.”
“Okay! We will try our best. I hope she will listen to us.” Dave said shrugging.
“I’m coming with you.” I tried following them but Dave pushed me back.
“No way! Terry told you to stay here and so just sit your ass in that car and wait for us to call you. You can’t afford to mess up again because I know if Jackie sees you she will lose it completely and you won’t be able to talk to her.” He was still angry.
“So you know Roy, if Jackie refuses to forgive you I don’t know what my relationship with your next woman will be like.” Ann said glaring at me.
“Are you threatening me Ann?”
“No Roy. She is not threatening you. I won’t take it too. And Terry? How do you think she will treat the other woman? You saw her relationship with Becky!” he glared at me and took Ann's hand leading her to the house.
I wouldn’t have any other woman in my life. If it turned out worst with Jackie then I would remain single forever. I knew my family well. They wouldn’t like the idea of any other woman in my life. Their love for Jackie and how they had stood up for her in everything said it all.
I became impatient. They were taking long in there. My phone finally rang and I jumped up. It was Dave. I tensed and picked it immediately.
“Yes Dave! How did it go?” I was so tensed up and I could hear my loud heartbeats.
“She will talk to you but it doesn’t guarantee getting back together with you.”
That was the only thing I wanted. I half ran to the house smiling but still tensed. I just wanted to see her. I knew there was some hope of getting back together. I entered the house and everyone glared at me. They were freaking mad.
“She is in the bedroom waiting for you. Try your best. We will be here waiting for the good news.” Terry said hugging me tightly.
I ran upstairs and opened the door. She was seated on the floor sobbing. She was completely shattered. I sat before her and took her hands in my hands. Seeing her that way devastated me. I had hurt her so badly. I had promised her happiness but I ended up making her cry. I remembered how many times I promised that I would do anything to protect. Anything not to see her shattered again but I had ended up being the cause of her tears. This made me cry. I wouldn’t forgive myself if that happened to her forever.
I explained everything to her with all the sincerity. I just needed her to trust me. She hauled herself at me. I wrapped her in my arms and she sobbed uncontrollably. We kissed passionately. She had forgiven me. I looked into her eyes and pitied her. Her eyes were swollen. I could tell it was as a result of crying and not sleeping well. She needed to rest. I led her to the bed and held her tightly. I watched her sleep peacefully and held her more tightly. I was almost losing her completely. I was now paranoid.

She stirred on the bed and I kissed her forehead. She looked at me and gave me a weak smile. She was still not doing well. Maybe we would go out and it would cheer her up again. It hurt seeing her still disturbed. I pulled her to me and caressed her face with my knuckles.
“I hope this is not a dream. I hope everything will be okay and I won’t cry over losing you to another woman. I just can’t take it watching you with someone else.” She said in a whisper and I saw tears cloud her eyes.
“Hush baby! You are not losing me to anyone. I swear to you that it won’t happen. I love you so much Jackie. I love you with all my being.”
“ I love you too Roy. I hope this won’t happen again.”
“ It won’t baby. I promise that. Can we go downstairs? They must be worried about us. They are all so tensed up.”
“Sure baby. Let’s go.”
I got out of bed and offered my hand to her. She took it and I helped her get out of bed. I pulled her into my arms and kissed her deeply. We went downstairs hand in hand and they all looked at each other and smiled. Terry came towards us and pulled us both for a hug.
“Well? She asked shrugging.
“Everything is sorted out. We are back together.” I said kissing her on the forehead.
“Wow! I can finally relax.” Ann said giving us a hug.
“This calls for celebration.” Dave was beaming with happiness.
“Yes! That’s what I wanted. Let’s go out and celebrate. On my bill.” I said smiling back at them.
“Sure. We should. What do you think Jackie?” Dave asked smiling at her.
“That’s okay with me.” She smiled back at Dave and I was happy to see her smile.
“Wait a minute. You are going out as couples and I will be the only single one there? I can’t watch people kissing every time. I will die out of jealousy. Can I bring someone Roy? Now that you act my father.” Terry said and we burst out laughing.
“Not the guy from the other day. Right Roy?” Dave said giggling.
“We can’t have him there. If it’s someone else we are okay.” I said giggling back.
“okay! It’s someone different this time round. You need to see him. He is so handsome. You will like him dad!” she said in a sarcastic voice rolling her eyes at me and we all burst out laughing.
“Okay my daughter! Give him a call. I'm waiting to see the man who wants my daughter.” I said playing along with her sarcasm. She rolled her eyes and ran upstairs to make a call.
“I need to shower and get ready. I will see you in a few.” Jackie had a bright smile on her face.
“I will help you baby!” I said taking her hand but Ann pulled her from me.
“Where do you think you are going Mr. Roy? Terry and I will give her a hand with that. We need to change too.” She said chuckling at my expression.
“I couldn’t agree more. If Roy gets in there with her we will wait here for hours.” Dave said and we all chuckled.
“Yes Roy! Sit your ass there and wait for us to get ready.” Terry was back. I looked at her and shrugged. I wouldn’t win against the three women.
“Wait a minute. What about Braden?” Jackie asked with a worried look on her face.
“Don’t worry about that. I will give Jane a call and they will pick him.”
She smiled and they ran upstairs giggling. They took long to get ready but when they came downstairs they were a sight to behold. Jackie looked totally different in makeup. It made her more beautiful and her face was glowing. The eye bags were gone completely. That was Terry’s work. She was good at that. I looked at her and smiled in appreciation. I walked towards Jackie and took her face in my hands.
“You look so beautiful baby.” I whispered and nibbled at her ear. She shivered and I chuckled.
“Thanks but don’t do that here baby!”
I chuckled and kissed her deeply. We were interrupted by coughs from the rest. We looked at them and laughed. The doorbell rang and Terry leapt to go and open the door.
“My man is here!” she said grinning like a teenager. She opened the door and we all bust out laughing. It was Jane. She rolled her eyes and went back to sit. Jane came towards us and took Jackie into her arms.
“I’m glad that everything is okay. We missed you and Braden. I hope you are coming back today.” She was beaming at her.
“I’m coming back today Jane. I missed you too.” She beamed back at her.
“I'm here to take my boy. I will see you later.” She walked towards Ann and took Braden from her hands and hugged him tightly. She had really bonded with both of them. She smiled at us and walked out of the house. The doorbell rang again and Terry ran to get it.
“It’s my man this time round.” She opened the door and hauled herself at whoever the visitor was. She led him in and introduced him to us.
“This is Allan guys. These are my brothers, Roy and Dave and these are my sisters-in-law, Jackie and Ann.”
We shook hands with him. He was a good guy. I liked him already and I wouldn’t mind him marrying my sister.
“Let’s go guys. We are going in separate cars. I need time alone with my wife.” I said beaming at them and they laughed. They understood my situation.
We were in the club within no time. We were led to our table and we all sat down chatting. The waiters and waitresses moved up and down to make sure  we were comfortable. They were so busy. The place was mine and they wouldn’t dare messing up with their work with me around. They knew that they would have their asses in the streets anytime they messed up. Ann and Terry ordered for wine and we men ordered for whiskey.
“What will you have madam?” the waitress asked Jackie. I wrapped my arms around her waist and looked up at the waitress.
“She will have sparkling water.”
“Okay sir.” She left to bring our orders and Ann and Dave gave me astounded looks.
“Sparkling water! Jackie always takes wine.” Ann looked from me to Jackie with confusion on her face.
“I'm wondering too! This is new.” Dave added.
“She can’t take wine. She is..” Terry said and stopped immediately when Jackie glared at her. Terry smiled and shrugged. She already knew that Jackie was pregnant. I knew she wouldn’t hide it from her. Terry can really dig out information.
“Wait a minute! Is this what I think it really is? Are you pregnant Jackie?” Ann asked grinning. Hiding anything from them was hard.
“Okay guys. Since I know Terry will have a hard time keeping her big mouth shut and you Ann will dig out until you get some information, I will tell you. She can’t take wine because she is two months pregnant. We are pregnant and we are going to be parents.” Ann and Dave gasped at my words and we all chuckled. Jackie and Terry couldn’t stop grinning.
“Wow! Congrats guys. We are so happy for you.” Ann said rising up to hug Jackie. Dave just smiled at us.
“No one should say a word to dad and mum. We will tell them over dinner.” I said looking at them warningly. They smiled and shrugged
Our drinks were brought and we were on a celebration mode. I rose up and held out my hand to Jackie.
“Can we dance baby.” She smiled and nodded. She took my hand and I led her to the dance floor with all eyes on us. The others followed us to the dance floor and everything was at standstill as everyone watched the three couples dance. I liked it that way. We were all happy.
